That's odd Justin. I sent the Red team an e-mail about 2 weeks ago and got a response.

Jim,

Congratulations to your recent deal on Oakley. I think this means you are
now the Red person, not Oakley/Red person. This is only great news to
me that you won't have any financial issues at all in the future on the project.

It's really great to see a person like you fully committing to the film/video
industry. Thanks for bringing the excitement to a student like me.

Regards,

contacting red

I've never had luck contacting Kelly. I'm just one of those hopeful customers where I luck out if I can make contact with them... :(

i think it's the sign of a truly busy and fresh company like red. everyday their employess probably have a slightly different schedule.

i emailed kelly twice in one day back a few weeks ago. both of my emails were answered within minutes. but i wouldn't expect such a rapid response everytime either.

Cameras for movie production- now to July 30th. These cameras will have limited features. Not enough for production cameras but enough to shoot a major motion picture.

I ended up looking at Jim's schedule post again and saw something that I haven't seen anyone else comment on. Maybe I'm just extra tired tonight, but did anyone else think this is a bit funny? Pre-production cameras aren't good enough for the customers, but they're good enough to shoot a major motion picture? Hehehe... That's cool. :matrix:

...OK, time to find some sleep.

I'm so glad your zoom lens goes down to 18mm. I've been doing some stills with the 24-70mm L series Canon EF and while it's a nice lens, there are many time I just want to go wider.

A 24mm still lens covers a wider angle of view than a 24mm cine lens. While on a still camera the film runs horizontally, on a motion picture camera the film is loaded vertically from the mag into the body resulting on an smaller area.

Serial numbers 1201- 1700 January 10th (500 units)

Great to get this news, but I still haven't found clarification for what this date means. Does this mean serial numbers 1201-1700 will BEGIN shipping on January 10th, or COMPLETE shipping on January 10th. I know this may seem petty, given that we're still in the land of tentative dates - but for those us re-booking cast and crew for features, it would really help to know.

just guessing and to play it safe - figure #1201 starts shipping on that date and by Feb 9 #1700 will be shipped

wow, you are going to schedule a feature around "tentative" dates with a camera you have never held or learned how to use??

Hi,

I am shooting a commercial using an F23 in 2 weeks time, I won't get a chance to touch the camera until the evening before the shoot! Having used most cameras on the market I don't expect any problems, if there are, I have film cameras ready to roll.

Yes, I noticed... and made a comment about it on page 5. :-)

I'm just glad there is light at the end of the tunnel... I have so many plans for my RED already!

What are thoughts after that schedule...will cameras be pretty much order and have in less then a week, or will only so many be released over a period of time? I ask because I am planing on going into filming a major feature starting about May.

would you want to risk not having it in May? Unless renting is an option for you. I would say just order it now....

We should all remember that beta units are going out.

There is ALWAYS a chance that a problem(s) will come to the surface that will PUSH BACK Jim' schedule.

I REALLY, REALLY hope that those BETAS do well!

But, it seems like everybody is already assuming this schedule is 100% -

Jim, what are NAMES of the beta units going out?

We should all WISH THEM WELL, BLESS THEM, SEND THEM POSITIVE ENERGY - ect. ect.

God Speed to the Betas!
