  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Schedule.

:shiftyph34r: Remember, remember the 10th of November. The RED ONE, screenplay, and plot. I know of no reason why RED ONE should ever be forgot. :)

I've never been so exited to get a piece of equipment since my good old Gibson Les Paul...

This new concept has been (still is) exiting from the beginning.

The R&D and tons of modifications seems to have been 100% Rock&Roll.

...and this schedule estimate is really challenging.

...exeptionally sustained and inspired work.

thanks Mr. Jannard and the RED team.

Now it would be great to have guidelines to purchase compatible equipments.

I sense a theme (excuse the repost)

Thanks for that update Jim!

I suppport your announced schedule 100%. I can totally live with those dates - 8/30 for #8, and 11/10 for #700. If #8 has some operational limitations when it ships and needs to be upgraded (RGB, etc.), I have no problem with that. Hopefully you'll get some great feedback from the beta testing which will help you analyze any problem areas before you get to final assembly of the production models. Thanks for all your hard work RED Team! Much appreciated...

Kick some ass on the final dev & build of these puppies and then we'll put 'em in motion!

Nice one....
The delay has helped me in I now have a proper budget for all the accessories/lenses. The 18-85mm zoom and primes are scheduled for same time (Nov-Dec) as my camera....but that's just me.
Dave,

Has the board been fixed? Respectfully, that is more important than the shipping schedule or cheerleading. If it's still being worked on, that's cool, but it was the reason for this 3 month delay, so that's why i'm asking...

Pragmatic enthusiast , Thanks for your patience. ;)

My friend David checked his order, too, neither of us have any numbers that we can even tell when we might get ours. I thought Jim said that two thousand cameras had been sold, but it looks more like twice that, so then I'd assume I'm probably like three-thousand-something, but I'm not really sure. How did some of you figure out your numbers, if you ordered after reservations were completed?

But this is good, at least there is some sort of schedule. Now to figure out what to do between now and then, haha.

Schedule

Thank you.

I will now go out and get a life . . . until September 15th.
My wife will be so happy. I can spend time with her instead of hanging around here.

But wait! I still have to know about my lens reservations. Do I get the 18x85 or go for the 18x50? When will I know how and when I can decide?
What about my 300mm lens reservation? And so many more unanswered questions!

Oh well, she'll just have to be happy after September 15th.

But wait! Red is an all new way of shooting. So much to learn! I'll have to do so many tests.

Oh well!

let me make sure I'm reading this right: Does the date refer to the date those numbers will be shipped by or the date those numbers will start shipping. For instance: Do numbers 301-700 start shipping on November 10th or by November 10th?

I have two questions.

Are all of the options, lenses, cages and peripherals going to ship with the camera orders?

Will Final Cut Pro be RED enabled by the time the cameras ship?

Well Done! Thanks! Good to know it's shipping so soon!

David

I can live with those dates too - I'm getting mine to rent out, and I'm not exactly worried about folks renting that other 4K, under $20K body instead...oh wait, there isn't one.

: )

I perceive the primary competition to a Red as a Red for the user base I'll likely address. If this is what it takes to get it right, I'm all for it - sell no (red) wine before its time and all that!

I'll jump in on the question train and am curious to know if those batches ship by the indicated date, or start shipping on the indicated date, or all at once on the indicated date? Or did I miss that somewhere?

Questions are the second best thing this forum does.

...Speculation is the first.
On that note i'll wade in.....

Jim says: 'Cameras for movie production- now to July 30th'

If that's a precedent for his nonclementure on the rest of the dates, then I'd speculate the next 50 will be delivered by August 30th...but maybe not......JIM???

BIG QUESTION for NON serial number holders here....

How de we determine our place in line when we do not have a serial number????

Is there some little math I need to know, like add 1500 to some part of my order number which is 392551243??? Sorry if this has been answered but I feel a tad bit in the dark as we are also planning our 08’ schedule (we do know its 08).

Anyways...Thanks Jim for updates and good luck with all. :)

Best

Huge thanks in advance to Jim, Ted, Graeme, Jarred, Stuart, James, Chris, Kelly, Rob, Matt, Deanan, Joanne, Brian, Hugo & the ENTIRE Red Team for all hard, intense work they will endure in upcoming weeks!

Now, things are getting exciting!!

two quick questions only curious here - no pressure - :

#1 do you have any updated estimates on avail of lenses ?

#2 any accessories that MIGHT not be ready before August 30th?

Also, Jim, big congrats on "all things Oakley". Just fantastic. You should be very, VERY proud.
