To satisfy our curiosity, we tested just how far the Monstercine XL-Remote Switch will operate over standard, inexpensive XLR audio cable, and it looks like we've only scratched the surface. Unfortunately we ran out of cable...

Each durable Aluminum and Stainless switch comes with a custom 4' cable whip that converts Red's Lemo port to standard XLR cable for triggering any GPI function, including Start-Stop, Time-Lapse and Ramping. A built-in red tally LED confirms recording status. XL-Remote: www.monstercine.com

Below, the Monstercine XL-Remote Stop-Start Switch communicates with Red #126 over 1140' of XLR cable and 20 different connections without a glitch.

I think his point was to hit the record button and run in front of the camera before the red light came on.

Good to know, now we can start a red flying in an helicopter... from earth. ;-)
