The motion mount is able to shutter in two ways : full on/full off , and ramp on/ramp off.
This gives the different looks for pans, etc.
My question is how fast can it do this? In other words what frame rates will it work up to ?

Obviously, higher frame rates don't exhibit the imaging defects such as the classic 'cartwheel backwards', etc, but does MM work on < 1/48 exposures as well ?
How about 1/200 sec ?

Thanks

Shuttering modes work up to 120fps with shutter angles of 22.5 to 194.4 degrees for soft shutter and 22.5 to 180 for square shutter.

Just saw this thread Les.

Please take a look here for my Motion Mount usage notes:

Specifically my findings on this post: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?105885-RED-DSMC-Motion-Mount-has-arrived!&p=1261509&viewfull=1#post1261509

So while you can shoot at 120fps with the shutter modes, be aware if you are dealing with extremely fast moving subjects or performing a bit whip pan you could potentially see artifacts in the Soft or Square Shutter Modes past 75fps. What I've found is that there's a correlation to the "strobe safe" guidelines listed in the manual for each resolution and this effect.

It does not happen in ND Only mode btw.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. Phil, I guess the modulator is getting a bit on the edge above 75 then.
