  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is there any estimate right now on when the Epic DRAGON-X will be available for purchasing?????? Also what the price would be like??? Around 24k????
 
Bro, the epic dragon-m is around 29k, how the fuck can the epic dragon-x be 30k????????
 
I don't think there will be an "X" any more since that is short for Mysterium X. I think we'll see something along the lines of a Epic-D or something simular. In any event. I'm not sure anybody knows when those will be sold. There is a long line of people to get upgraded before I think they start selling the Epic-D in the store. However, if you want to get in line and don't have an Epic already, you can get the Epic-M Dragon here: http://www.red.com/store/products/epic-m-dragon-brain-only

It might be at a slight premium to the Epic-D but you'll get to in the front of the line in future upgrades (I don't thing you get to be in the front of the line for this upgrade though)
 
Yes, that is the link I posted. I suspect being how the Epic-X brain only is 17k and the upgrade is 10k, that we will see the new price being at least 27k. Just depends on if you're looking to have the camera sooner rather than later and if $2k is worth that for you.

I guess you are right, for the the brain only... but that brain is without mount and SSD module. So then it cost above 30k USD if you compare to what a typical brain was until recently. It might come a cheaper X dragon version but I doubt it will, as 30k is pretty darn low as it is and the X and M types where quite confusing in the Mysterium round. Im actually supriced that this is sold as an "M dragon"
 
i think there is a difference between upgrading an existing epic body and manufacturing on mas scale and selling a brand new dragon camera. further more the difference between the epic-m and epic-x is also around 5000 dollars,hence the assumption that maybe it would be around 24k body only, and i also remember to have read it around somewhere on this forum that it will be around 24k,someone from red possible jarred mentioned it....
 
it would be great if someone from red could comment on this subject matter......
 
Yuo might be right, But I would doubt that the X dragon is out any time soon. As the M is not even out. And I think people would be a bit offended if they ordered their M now and even before they got it there was an X (identical camera) available for a lot less. So if there is an X and an M thing for dragon then my guess is that it will go pretty much the same way as they did it for mysterium. So that people that was really eager to get a camera could order an M and pay a prime price and then they got a couple of month to bring their money back and then the X version comes at a lower price.

Personally I just hope that this round the upgrades comes before the dragon M's are out. With the Mysterium cameras it was the opposite... Then I bough the M and made a bundle from being the only Epic in town while people where waiting to have their red one's upgraded.... So selfish as I am I hope things are done in different order this time :)

The "M" in Epic-M stands for Machined, not Mysterium. Thats why the have the "X" on Epic-X to signify that its of the MX variety that is built using mass produced parts.

I don't think it works that way,i think the epic mysterium x will soon be become unavailable just like the red one mx

Too lazy to search this :)

Hi Björn,

Well, As slowly as the Epic Dragon upgrades have been coming out, and the limited 90 day warranty, for the upgraded components, the DragonCF might then be he ticket to riches. One of the differences , in this point in time, is the plethora of cameras available and soon to be available, including EpicX and F55, that work just peachy, for many applications. YMMV, of course, but the warranty issue and adding Red Armour, for a heavily used piece, can't be underestimated, especialy if student discounts apply, as they do, to only new camera purchases, not upgrade costs. The Dragon CF is supposed to ship in October...
