GL Optics Sigma 18-35 Rehoused - Group Buy

Such a gorgeous lens, been using the Canon one the past two months on my F55. Cannot wait to get the re-housed one.

Agreed

Hi Kwan,

sorry it's not possible to match them so perfectly to make them bulletproof for 3D work. If shooting 3D, I would go with specially matched pairs by Angenieux or prime lenses.

Cheers
David

copy, thanks

We reached 28 ordered lenses!

Seven minutes until the group buy closes!

Some redusers asked me about the weight and size of the 120 degree and 300 degree version:

The 300 degree option is only 200g heavier (1,5kg instead of 1,3kg) and the size nearly stays the same. I think it only get's slightly longer, but maybe that was only the prototype.

Front diameter and filter thread on both version is 95mm and 77mm.

Has anyone yet been billed for the balance due on this? I put a deposit down but haven't been asked for the second payment yet. Just wondering how the timing is going.

+1

I have a deposit on too; last I heard was lenses going out starting late September / early to mid October…

Hey David.
Can you please find out 300 degree's date, Can't wait

cheers

For the folks that received theirs, how is this unit holding?

Newbie question, the 300 degrees option, what are the advantages?

My experience has been EF lenses to date.

Eric; 300deg focus rotation is straight cinema... Not sure if it's been remapped at all, but regardless it allows for an (obvious) advantage in fine-tune focusing. For example, rather than going from 15ft to 25ft in a 5deg turn, it may be increased to 30degs, making it easier to hit any depth within that 10ft range.

Might not be "better" per se for one-man bands or single ops that pull their own focus, but if you've got an AC they'll definitely appreciate the additional throw.

Thanks I love to learn :)

Now are the optics the same as original Sigma?

Nothing changes right?

They should ship late September, latest early October :)

It's now mid-October and I haven't heard any delivery updates.

Has anyone had an email for payment of the balance, or even received their lens?

Mike
