I just returned from the IBC.
P+S Technik offers the IMS for the RED ONE for sale there. I talked to them for a while. They say the have done everything the can do to clear the warranty issue. Now they see no why how the mount can damage the camera.

I talked to Ted at the RED stand as well for a minute. Unfortunately he had now idea what the situation is about the IMS. He had also no plans the talk to P+S…

So the situation seam to stay fairly unclear for us customers.

Please could someone from RED confirm the status of the IMS and explain how this story could lead to a happy end.

Thanks a lot

Yes please! This mount would be a godsend! Please approve it or tell them what they need to do to modify it.

I have a beautiful set of fully geared Canon FD lenses I'm dying to use, but I won't go against Red's advice.

Pretty please? :sheep:

Yeah, anyway.... how many feet away are they right now??

It would be really nice if IMS or RED walked to each other tenth and take a 15 minute break to see if it voids the warranty or not...

Waiting for NEWS :alien:

It's up to P+S to approach RED for some kind of certification. It's their product. No need to beg RED. Beg P+S!

My 5 cents...

I was under the impression they had. I know RED have seen it and said it voided the warranty because it crushed and/or required cutting the i-cable.

Don't know why the conversation ended there but I'd love to see it opened up again.

If P&S need to make the gap bigger or something to better allow for the cable, I'm sure they will.

it aint gonna work, you have to remove the whole front of the camera. anything beyond the removal of the collimation mount in its entirety voids your warranty.

I beleive Jarred did say that the IMS voids the warranty.

It's a no brainer! It Voids the warranty! Get over it guys. either you wait for birger or alesniak.. or get the nikon mount.

I don't think so. P&S said they redesigned it so you don't have to remove that much, just the PL mount, same as the others.

The issue is Jarred said their isn't enough room for the i-cable, which seems an easy thing for P&S to fix.

If you want to use the IMS you have to remove the collimation mount, that is true… but you have to do this as well for the use of the birger mount.

P+S has send in RED the IMS to approve. RED said: It damages the i-cable - P+S responded and said: They can’t see how. That’s where communication ended.

For some reason RED says the IMS could damage the i-cable - don’t no why a damage is more possible than it would be with the birger mount… Maybe someone from RED can explain…

RED said NO but P+S is selling the IMS already - This is no good situation for us costumers.. This has to be cleared. So please work on it. Thanks

I didn't buy IMS.

I'm an IMS beta tester only.

Sanjin,

Based on what you've seen, can you shed any light on how the mount could potentially damage the i-cable? Do you have to tuck it in a small cavity where it could get crushed if not done exactly right?

I cannot make any comment in that way because I do not want to jump in a sort of "scissors" between RED and P+S Technik.

:innocent: Fair enough. I certainly don't want to ruffle feathers as RED has changed my life. Would just like a clear way forward and if it isn't going to be IMS, I need to figure something else out.

Ditto to most requests above, just want to add one vote (voice). I desperately want to use the IMS, too.

Please make it work, both sides, thanks.

i think Birger had to change the mount slightly to make room ( perhaps a slot) to tuck the wires into so they would not get damaged ( i believe you must fold them and palce in slot) ... you can read the mounting instructions on birger site ...

not sure what happens now that the wires will be connected to I/data connector ??? are the wires now hard wired in or slipped in to the I/connector ???

Leica just announced the World’s fastest aspherical lens

(35 mm camera system)

Noctilux-M-50mm-f0.95-ASPH_001.jpg

the new LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50 MM F / 0.95 ASPH.

Can you imagine to shoot in a dark night with available light and get a sharp and crisp picture

that "surpassing the speed of the human eye".

All can be done on your RED with IMS Leica-M mount.

"surpassing the speed of the human eye" it's a quote from

LINK>>>

Could be also translated press text from German (!?).

Surpassing>>>
Adj. 1. surpassing - exceeding or surpassing usual limits especially in excellence

transcendent

superior - of high or superior quality or performance; "superior wisdom derived from experience"; "superior math students"

2. surpassing - far beyond what is usual in magnitude or degree; "a night of exceeding darkness"; "an exceptional memory"; "olympian efforts to save the city from bankruptcy"; "the young Mozart's prodigious talents"
exceeding, exceptional, prodigious, olympian

extraordinary - beyond what is ordinary or usual; highly unusual or exceptional or remarkable; "extraordinary authority"; "an extraordinary achievement"; "her extraordinary beauty"; "enjoyed extraordinary popularity"; "an extraordinary capacity for work"; "an extraordinary session of the legislature"...

LINK>>>

All that should lead in a conclusion that the new LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50 MM F / 0.95 ASPH is even more sensitive and faster on light than a human eye.

After all that "advertising... blah-blah..." we have to test and see how it works on RED (with IMS Leica-M mount of course).
