Does anyone have video footage shot with this lens on a Scarlet or any RED Digital Cinema Camera? I've seen Black Magic Cinema Camera footage online but none with on a RED. I'm just waiting to see some footage on a RED before I pull the trigger and buy this lens.

Mine arrives on Saturday. Happy to answer any questions you may have about it once I receive. I'll do my best to post some footage too, but just slammed right now schedule wise.

where'd you get yours at? I've been on backorder for a few weeks now

I think this might be the next Tokina. Everyone who has used it says it's great (even wide-open)... And where are you gonna find an 18mm t1.8 for $800 (much less one that triples as a 24 and 35). I'd love for Sigma to make a t1.5 prime set...

I would give up my Tokina for this lens.

Hard to find up here in Canada :P

Why do you compare to the Tokina ? 11-16 vs 18-35 ?

Im referring to the popularity of the Tokina 11-16.

As in "the must have" tool in your set.

Just purchased from buydig. Lets see how lucky I am

Nice, ya I honestly expected that I would be waiting at least weeks for it to ship as it seems everybody is out of stock, I was stoked/surprised when I got the tracking number the next day. It's a great deal with all the extras they through in too.

Thoughts? Ok, first one... The Sigma is way more versatile and it does offer something you can't find anywhere. Especially the range of 18-23mm @ 1.8 (and hey, there is 25-34mm too). Thats the whole point of this lens and it performs great. It will also cover 5k on Scarlet-Dragon, and maybe even 6kHD on EPIC-Dragon. The Rokinon on the other hand is a fullframe lens which covers everything on Dragon.

Comparing the performance @ 35mm and 24mm with primes is a different thing. I don't know the Rokinon, but let me say this. I decided to keep my Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art and the Canon L 24mm 1.4 II. ;) If i would start today, i absolutely would get the 18-35 and don't think about getting primes for a long time. But i had them before and now i keep them. Selling came to my mind, i have to admit that.

That being said, the 18-35 is currently the most used lens on my Scarlet.
I would love to have IS on this. Hehe.

Edit: googling around i found this

Yeah, just youtube, whatever. ;)

Does anyone have any thoughts on the rokinon 35mm T1.5 vs this Sigma at 35mm T1.8?

If anything the Sigma is sharper. Microcontrast is excellent on both. Bokeh might be a tiny bit harsher with the zoom, though, and obvious you can throw the background a bit further out of focus with the Rokinon.

The Sigma is a pain to focus. :(

As soon as I tried the new zoom I decided to put my Rokinon 24mm and 35mm lenses up for sale, though, alongside my 17-40mm L and 17-55mm f2.8 IS. It's not perfect, but it replaces a lot of lenses (and I desperately need money lol).

Thanks Maik, Mike. I'm looking at the cine-mod sigma from GL, so that should fix all focus issues. I guess the trade off for the zoom range (aside from the f-stop) is the bokeh, which I can probably live with. Great feedback, much appreciated.
