  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Something Special... ( REDCINE-X )

GPU debayer?! I'm rubbing my eyes!

What monitor does 6k?

Single Titan 6K @ 24fps. Rocket will be still be alot faster.. but it becomes more of a luxury rather than a necessity.

Jake... You are not just asking a question, you are kinda being a dick. Knock it off. I love your work.. I'm a big fan. You have a ton of talent at what you do, no reason to act like a jackass.

Condescending posts and backhanded compliments are way above you.

There is enough drama going around right now.. so why don't you just chill?

Come on Jarred. Calling me a dick and a jackass, while giving me a backhanded compliment? Aren't you doing exactly what you just accused me of doing? BTW, thank you for the compliment:-)
I didn't call anyone names and there is no need to act condescending toward me too. I already said, twice, I'm happy to see GPU debayer. You chose to concentrate on a single question, which was of a rhetorical nature and more of an observation, while choosing to ignore my other questions about GPU implementation.
BTW, "condescending posts and backhanded compliments" are NOT above me:-)

So happy about this news. I didn't have a Rocket in my near future, so this will go a huge way in helping me go 4K all the way through post. Thank-you RED and I'll say no more until it's here. :)

Heh! I knew I installed this Titan for a reason :) Was even thinking of making it two:

This is a happy surprise for everybody. Like everybody should have a dance party or something. For reals.

Phil are you installing the Titan in a Mac Tower? PC Tower? Also...could it be used on a laptop via a thunderbolt enclosure? Or is it too large?

I'm actually thinking about the times in the past and the times in the future I've had to work with a laptop in the field or in a hotel room. Never had a Rocket on my PC laptops. Never stopped me from grading in the field and creating deliverables.

Suddenly though I think things are going to be very different for many people's perceptions on working with .R3Ds. In a very big way.

I'm a PC guy for my work, although I do have to use Macs and Linux boxes a good deal.

Titan is a big card. In the system I'm actually writing this from it's nearly butted up to the hard drive chasis. Just enough clearance. It's real power friendly considering what it does. While not a cheap card it is a pretty amazing accomplishment in my mind.

This is great news guys, thanks. Myself and I'm sure A LOT of people I've been waiting for this for a long time and it's finally happening, excellent.

Phil - I think you're right. The importance of this cannot be overstated, we/Red need to get the message of high dynamic range, great skin tones and easy workflow out there as much as possible. We need to fight the haters with great tech and easy workflow.

As computers and GPUs become faster and faster, working with R3Ds or any other raw motion format needs to be as easy as cutting pro res on a laptop, or there a bouts :-)

Since freaking day one. I've got stories that I can honestly never tell, but man. Back in the Red One days the weirdness and crazy was given away for free by the gallon. Luckily I really, really wanted to work with the camera at the time and was able to demonstrate and provide hard numbers just what the workflow could do.

This is certainly going to pave new ground on this front. I still hear on the occasional day of the week of how difficult working with REDCODE is. I just boot up the laptop, open up Redcine-X Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Speedgrade, Resolve then load up some 5K and 4K material. Turn around and look at them and say "what chu talk'n 'bout?"

Some are focused so much on what they can't do. Most should be focused on what they can do. This really pushes that to new heights.

I have a feeling this is going to work on everything.
It's going to be a big help for Red One users I suspect as they are less likely to have a rocket card.

It also looks like Dragon is going to be a VERY viable system from the get go!
