  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Rokinon Cine Primes on EPIC, first Impressions

Has no one tried the 16mm on the epic yet? Seems the 16, 24, 35, 85 is a 50 + 135 away from being a complete prime set.

If there was an Cine 16mm id bite :)

+1 and FF

and 1.5 would crazy if that could happen.

Hey all! Just got my hands on the 16mm. First impressions: This thing is SHARP. Sharp straight from f2 and only improves. Vignetting on APS-C at f2, but I kinda like the look it gives. Gone as it stops down. Love the build quality (confused as to why some people don't like rokinon build quality). Longer throw than you will find on any still wide, and silky smooth, AND half click aperture stops w/ a manual ring. Is this the closest we have to a perfect wide for the price? It just might be. MUCH sharper than the canon 10-22 and the sigma 10-20mm. On first glance I like the image better than the tokina 11-16mm which people on here love but I never was convinced of.

Will try to post more as I use it this week!

sounds very promising, how is distortion?
It is present but not very much so. It seems quite barrel though, not mustache like their 14mm. I don't have any issues with the amount of distortion, I would consider it not significant for a 16mm lens

Samyang 35 mm

Samyang 35 mm

Filmgrab...ps. How can i upload a bigger Picture? Do i Need a Server? Best Regards, Marinus

We had the small kitchen lit with the practical ceiling lamp and bounced a 300w arri fresnel.

the club we used the existing light the atmosphere offered and just played around...with the camera of course.

The larger kitchen again used the two practical kitchen lights, and bounced a diffused 300 and hit them with a 150 fresnel if I remember correctly.

Thanks Kyle, good job on the video.

Did you pull focus on your own with the Rokinon?

I passed by at there stand on sathurday and talked to one of the Rokinon guys who said that extra focal lengths are coming next year, 50mm might be even faster than the rest. I asked wether it would be 1.4 as well.. and he couldn't answer.. so I rephrased to: will it be at least 1.4 and he smiled and said yes..

Thanks, hopefully my clients will be releasing videos soon so can share more with you guys.

I only operated and pulled myself when other cam op was operating a 5d for stills or other business. I was DP. Other cam op was director. Very small intimate crew of 4 people.
