  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Rokinon Cine Primes on EPIC, first Impressions

I like getting an extra stop compared to my Tokina. But I need the cine modded lens. I feel spoiled. Kinda. I'm sure the cine style is just around the corner. Wonder how vignetting is. We shall see
It is APS-C.

So it may vignette pretty badly on your Epic. Should be good to go on my Scarlet, though.

Part of me wants to buy it, declick it and put on a zipgear for now. Then sell and upgrade when the cine version comes out (and it will).

Oh I should of looked into that. I think the 24/35/85 are ff correct me if I'm wrong

Is there any way to get in touch with Rokinon/Samyang/Walimax and request an 18mm FF35 T1.5? Honestly, I think 50mm is somewhat superfluous (many cheap alternative options out there), but an 18mm t1.5 Cine would be incredibly appealing to fill the rest of the set...

I wouldn't mind a conveniently cine modded 50mm to match...nor a ff 18 t1.5...both for probably under 800$ lol...superfluous. Added to the vocabulary.

You're not wrong, the 14 is FF as well.
Do you own the 14? I need more stops than 2.8! ...Sometimes budgets and projects just put you in positions you're not prepared for. I'd rather open up to 1.5 than raise ISO 2 stops or break the 180 degree angle...maybe dragon will change my opinion.

any way let me know how the 14 works for you if you own it.

These lenses are great for the money but don't expect much when you open them to 1.5.

I agree. I just tested the 35. Useasble wide open with a little sharpening but I do that only on long shots not photographing faces. At 2.8 all is good though. I have a gl cine 50mm with the set and feel no gaps in my set. I managed to project a couple of second in a local cinema at 4k shot with the rokinkn 35 from prores 444. All was good :)

here is something visual to conversation,
24mm wide open, 2K, 60p with the LA7200 :)))
wasn't shooting a lot with that combo, just wanted to see how it looks, and i like the look when i manage to keep it in focus:) ,
couple shots with tokina @ 11mm for comparison, you'll see it right away;

Careful with those lasers

Some helmet cam!

I know I own them. But like I said. Sometimes clients/productions manage to put you in a spot you may need 1.5

Bit soft for me. Canon 24mm is much sharper fully open.

Yes it's a nicer lens in performance possibly but also a 1500$ lens. I got all my rokinons for that price and they're ready for my follow focus and manual.

Yes great move...buy $30,000 body and stick $500 #^% on it.
