Is there any red courses online that focus on the audio? Still cant find a way to do audiobracketing inside the camera like in good old hvx200. Intrested to hear the differences using just a abox on camera body vs the pro io module. Or with the mixedpre from sound devices etc. Perhaps some postproduction on dialog aswell.

Not that I know of as Audio is a particular Niche market, not much talked about as it should, yet IMSO remains the other third of any Film, 1/3 been Story, and the other 1/3 been your imagery, even so I have gone as far as saying that your Audio is the other half of your Film... ;)

There are some specific Audio forums, even so they are a bit of a pain...

During the entire length of the Filming of Rape of a beauty, which I can promise you, it will have a good Boom Boom and Audi Mixing specialist on board, we'll do an extensive coverage of all tools used in detailed review as well as giving as much as possible explanation on the spot on how to chose the right one and how to operate it in general forms, all 100+ Hours of BTS videos will be streamed regularly during the production and will stay on my Youtube Chanel for good.

Plus Joel, for those becoming our Twitter followers, can ask questions and they will be replied to on one of the next Video Sessions, and even so is not intended to replace Film School this videos I ma sure will not nly entertain with great BTS coverage, but will teach a thing or two and or most likely four or five... In the process.

Sounds good Ketch! Will get an twitter account and follow!

JWSound (http://jwsoundgroup.net/) has a great forum for sound pros with loads of invaluable information. In fact, one of the senior members there is Marc Wielage, who also happens to be a senior member here. He's a pretty accessible and straightforward guy. I'd be willing to bet you could pick his brain for a bit of the info you seek.

A box vs pro I/O module... to me the choice is quite simple.

Pro I/O Downsides:
Sucks a lot of power.
Increase the size and weight of your camera quite a bit, almost double it especially since using it means you normally also need bigger batteries as well.
Poor power output, does not really give enough juice for anything.
The Price. There is a lot of gear you can get for that kind of money.
Pro I/O Positives:
Gives you a true second EVF port. good to have if you do not have the +1 module.
Seperate Sync ports and such.

Abox positives:
Small.
Simple.
Price.
Abox negatives:
a bit of cable clutter under the lens.

I actually sold our pro I/O as we did not use it that much due to the above reasons and instead we got the +1 and a Terradeck BOLT. I will soon also get a Sound device pix to be able to record the sound onto that together with picture from the bolt, all "off camera".

But normally we timecode jam the epic with the sound guy's equipment and record sound off camera and then we use the front ports of the epic for one or even two small scratch sound microphones. Just to have some sound for direct camera playback.

So our plan is:
To have onboard scratch sound.
Remote on set automatic proxy recording using the bolt and a pix.
Also thinking of letting the pix be the sync source for both sound and camera, should work well and be possible according to my readings.
On the pix we record with screen info TC etc in picture.

It's all a bit to complicated but I think I rather do without the Pro I/O than having it as it more than anything made the sound guy's come a bit to close to the camera. :)

Also with the new redesigned meizler module coming out soon, which we do not know what it is just yet, but still, I would save the money for now and buy an A box and a +1 module for and then wait and see what's happens.

Also the +1 has better power out than the I/O and gives you the wanted second evf port for a lot less. The rest of the pro I/O is not really worth the money IMHO.

Thanks then i dont have to think about the pro io. Looks to clumsy as you said. I allready have the abox wich is great. Just curios if i could step up a notch with a sounddevices mixpre-d or similar. I like to keep the rig small so perhaps the quality gain is not worth the extra weight abd clutter.
