Found this video on vimeo by one the greats, Vincent Laforet.
I watched it, I wanted to ask you guys what your thoughts were in terms of the Infrared look.
He mentioned the camera was modified, but can that effect be achieved with a filter?
Thanks

I think you will need a IR modified camera to archived this look. I don't know of any filters that are able to fake it.

it's not impossible that you could spend a lot of time doing color correction & fx work to get this 'look', but there's not a post-filter that i know about that would really get you anywhere close.

now, if you're talking about camera filtration, it's actually pretty easy to shoot red for infrared... carefully remove the OLPF and then use an ND (non-IRcut) filter (or an IRpass) to cut down the visible spectrum.

personally, i think it would be a waste of time to try to replicate this when you can just shoot it. then you can spend as much time as you want color correcting to enhance the effect in ways that couldn't be captured.

yeah, this just reminded me of some looks i was wanting to experiment with... :)

I can't wait to test out an IR Epic, heck I haven't spent time with a BW one either oddly.

The potential with Infra Red is really interesting in terms of not only going to a B&W look, but also playing with the colors that are actually rendered and twisting them into some compelling palettes.
