Hi All,

I'm about to shoot a no-budget feature on a DSLR. Before I do I'd like to plan my workflow, so here I would need some help...

I'd like to edit on Premiere CS6. The source format is DSLR footage. My editing hardware is a 2013 Macbook Pro 13" with 16GB RAM , 2.5Ghz i5, Intel HD 4000. I know it's not a professional system but... This is what I have and like to use. I don't want anything fancy, just traditional film editing + at the end color correction.

For these purposes I'd like to get some hard drives... Please advise me some solution (not really a brand but more like a workflow...). The MBP has two USB 3, 1 FW 800/400 and 1 Thunderbolt port. I'm thinking about getting some G-tech drives.... I also have some spare drives at home I could use for something in the process.... So... What I thought is:

1, get a 2TB G-Drive USB3 for footage on location and later for editing
2, get a smaller USB 3 drive for backup

3, how much more drives I need for a fast edit? Scratch disk? Render files?

How much space I need? DSLR footage is around 12Gigs per hour... For a 500Gb drive I could shoot almost 40 hours.... That's insane...

I'm planning to get a HP zr2240 monitor for color correcting. As for now I have an older 21" Samsung lcd monitor.

Maybe could anyone give me some thoughts on this?

I think they are saying: This isn't a DSLR support site. It dilutes the content here to ask non-Red workflow questions.
