For Those Of You In Northern VA....

The new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Ashburn is having it's soft opening this week. Eight 4K (Sony's latest SXRD projectors so far as I know) screens with 7.1 sound and premium seating along with all the usual food and drink that comes with such theatres.

Damn, How did I miss that? HUGE thanks! This rocks!

The one that just opened in Denver is top notch. Having been there a few times now, it's literally the only theater in Denver that I'll go to for movie screenings anymore.

They are also looking into opening a Fairfax County location in the next three-five years. With many of the local cinemas in the suburbs in decline due to age and lack of investment by the companies that own them, we are in dire need of quality.

Lol. I don't know that things are all that bad. The Rave and Tyson's AMC are not so bad. You should see what I am used to.

I hear that Alamo offers a superior experience. I'm looking forward to it very much.

Bought tickets for the wife unit and I. We are heading there Wed. night.

any idea on what the cost of those Sony's are? I'm sure you get a price break when you pop for 8 of 'em....

Last time I checked, they were tens of thousands of dollars a pop but smaller cinemas like Alamo lease them and don't buy them outright.
