Just out on set and wondering if it's possible to move the magnified area of focus with the side hand, I don't have a touch screen?

Thanks a lot :-)

I just upgraded to 4.0.10 (official) today, and was wondering the same thing. They haven't updated the manual.

Press down on the directional pad. It will select the magnifying cube and you can move it where you'd like.

Remember you can't move it while zoomed it. Might come in a future firmware release though.

I totally tried that... Must... Try... Harder... *click* GOT IT!

Update: nope... Is it actually available in the 4.0.10.0? It might have been a beta only thing.

It is available in 4.0.10. You need to put your camera in an AF mode - even if it is just Confirm mode. Then press down to highlight the AF window, move it around using the arrows and the hit Enter. When you enter 1:1 it will try to center the 1:1 region with your AF window.

Cool, got it.

Confirm was on and it didn't work until I selected "spot" instead of "centre" as the focus method. Also I'm finding focus checks/guides (even with dummy lenses) to be far more accurate with 4.0.10. Before I never got more than a yellow box at best, now I'm hitting green or using the "enhanced" mode (pie) to let me know when it's hitting. Awesome stuff.

I forgot about spot vs center mode. I'll make sure we capture that in the user manual. You mentioned in a previous post that we hadn't updated the manual - I believe it was posted to the web site along side the 4.0.10 release.

Downloading... ...Now.

Leave it to RED to update all of their stuff (official fw, manual, survival guide) during arguably the busiest week in the moving image industry. Thanks for the heads up Trent.
