Hi Jim & Jarred. I thought I would drop by and say a friendly hello, and ask if there were any hints on what's coming next?

just getting a tease, got no time to wait a day after NAB for Red user site to respond :-)

What I want from NAB cheap laser projector from Red. I don't really have need for redray yet, I probably will when they have service here.

What about you guys?

With Tonaci on site, reports are real-time. Actually, as I recall last year, Jim, Jarred, Brent et al were posting stuff the night before so it was breaking news as the doors opened. I've found that everyone posts something from the floor at NAB, I certainly did last year, think Jeff Kilgroe did too. So if you can't make it, Reduser is about as timely as it gets.

Yes, I forget if it was NAB, but there was not going to be any hassles getting o here, but still was. :(

Still, you could imagine if anybody posted on the home theatre, audio visual, bluray forums to come over here because the best projector in the world, in 4k and laser was just released. Even Jim would have trouble setting up a server farm for that. I have an ultimate solution, give everybody who is logged in real time priority on the forum servers. They should get fast response on their expanded system. What will happen is a lot of visitors will come on nab if the projector and reddray are released together. Hopefully not more than a camera release, but still, looking forwards to scarlet's brother. Still, I wish they had cheaper projector.

I don't think its a problem that has to be faced. I think there is a better chance of Lake Michigan freezing in July than the projector being released at NAB. They have said the commercial one will be released first. Thinking about it, there is a better chance of winning the power ball lottery buying a single random ticket than having your wished fulfilled at NAB, and I don't mean scoring a booth babe.

Mark, in my lifetime I've met a lot of 'glass half empty' people, but only a few like yourself who see the glass as completely empty. '-)

Seriously though, some skepticism is healthy while being totally devoid of hope can be a symptom of health issues. Time for a checkup?

EDIT: To wit: "Dwelling on negative events can increase levels of inflammation in the body, a new Ohio University study finds.

Researchers discovered that when study participants were asked to ruminate on a stressful incident, their levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of tissue inflammation, rose. The study is the first time to directly measure this effect in the body."

Many want a $10K 4K laser lit projector. iI isn't going to happen at NAB. There are problems to be solved and the economics are not there. Why do you thing Red will bring the commercial model out first as Ted stated at CES? There is no expectation of it being $10K to $15K like a home theater machine. Lasers are just too expensive to hit a $10K or $15K price point right now.

I am negative on two things. Odemax, may it rest in peace, and the imminency of any home theater 4K laser projector especially under $15K. And there are more barriers that need to be overcome than just cost.

Great, even worse. I did not realise the delay did not include the private projector. I could make a 64k projector for that price. Well time to get 4 fullhd led projectors and sling them together to make ultrahd demo for my table.

I am pretty sure they will show a projector at NAB just as they have done in the past. And I am sure many will like the image it projects. Showing a working prototype, a one or two off, has nothing to do with saying its close to release at the target price point.

I think RED should ditch NAB all together. To me these conventions feels like a bit like pre telephone and definitely pre internet... Kind of something that those old fart kind of camera companies are all about. Not showing up at NAB and release the dragon now would be a much bigger buzz than having twice the size booth as anyone else at nab and having the normal sales talk...

Just my opinion. :)

Or maybe thats because I'm not going...

I just hope I can get the dragon upgrade soon after the NAB, so I can use it in my indie film.
RED projector...I wish it will be real soon, but I don't think it will be available on NAB, maybe we can get a demo.

They have taken so long it should have been out last NAB. I wonder what the reason is, maybe an ultra small development team, could it be new technology. This projector thing has been talked about for 5 years? There could have been a projector 3 years ago. However the development has been tied in with redray codec, that itself took a while. There was large need for 4k display professionally for years, and display.port support, it should have been.
