  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

TiLTA Rig for Scarlet-X / Epic

I just ordered a Tilta base plate:

http://www.tilta.com.cn/en/pro_show.asp?ID=29

I know it is not the same thing, but I love it!

I was a little nervous about quality, but it is rock solid - it is built and designed very well. Really wanted a Gunner, but the price was holding me back, and this is a good substitute for the time being. I will probably still purchase a Gunner at some point, but this rig more then satisfies me for now.

I've had the chance to check out Tilta gear in person, and I'm going back to the place to buy the follow focus this weekend. If anyone has any questions throw them at me and I'll try to get some answers.

Can't say I'm a rig expert but the quality seems all pretty good to me - although it's quite obviously tailored to dSLR's.

I have the Tilta base plate, too. It's solid. I love it.

I know TILTA making kind of copy things starting from RedRock, Red/Epic till Arri accessories,
he copied the Red Epic/Scarlet Power Lemo Plug, used copied my personal design accessories,
I'd personal warring him last year on one of Forum from Mainland China, any thing he can make money he will copy,
this really happening in Mainland China now, although they were not belong this industry...

I bought their Universal Handgrip (http://www.cinegearpro.com/tilta-iii-uh-t03-front-handgrip.html) and the rod locking mechanism broke in 2 days. I figured I got a bad copy and the dealer replaced it. The second one broke in short order as well. The handles and the rosettes are solid and seem to be well made. But, if the unit falls off the camera, it is not very useful. I don't think I will buy any of their other products.

Looks like they are building everything for RED cameras. Oh...the Chinese

Snyone ever get around to trying this out?

I'm looking for a new, good complete rig for my camera and this seems to be the only option I've found yet... most the rigs I see listed on these forums seem extremely unbalanced for handheld so I'm tentative to get most of them. I like something like this that's easily dovetailed back and forth from the tripod and I can just throw it over my sweater on my shoulder for quick handheld when necessary...

Wanna try this handle rig? Hehe...

Nothing wrong with Chinese – if done well! Go for the Allstar, not a cheap DSLR-rig!

Yes TILTA seems good but only in a very light setup the second you go full on, heavy lenses and lots of stuff the handles just don't hold it and fall off :) not a pleasant thing to happen. In terms of rigs am playing right now with AeonCine Titan Lite - its still in Beta so some things needs adjusting but a really well designed rig

I almost bought the Tilta Matte Box, but it's impossible to find reviews or anything on them so I opted for Shoot35.

Bought the whole Set. Works fine, nice Case, nice Follow Focus Set.
I have to say that there are just a few minor problems with it.
the Universal 15mm/19mm Handgrip is built to lightweight, so that it flexes too much. And ours has already broken down. So i don't recommend it.
The rest of the rig is very solid, has a great feel to it, especially the mattebox. awesome.
great price i would say.
