  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

+1 Module shipping next week

Why isn't it on the website? Can't wait to get it switching to the touch screen to the view finder was annoying at times. Glad I can roll out with both!!!!!

Tuesday it will be on RED.COM for order. We are going to release some EVF bundles at the same time with great pricing for those that have waited to by an EVF till this module was released.

I think this is the first time I have ever seen bundled pricing. Could this be a trend? Hmmmm...

I really wish that someone at Red would chime in and explain all the wonders of their "+1 Module"
in great detail.

I have a feeling that even after it is up on their website there will still be
lots of questions not answered by the info provided below the product.

The more information the better.

Maybe I am just to close to it.. but I really don't understand what is so hard to understand... Its pretty simple.

Can a Viewfactor etc. type APU-AB battery plate be added to the back of the +1?

Can other modules that you sell be added to the back of the +1?

Only question I don't see answered is if the HDMI port can be software selectable, with the module installed. Other than that... We're good. :)

Yes, it shows up in the software as the rear LCD, and you can select touch functionality of that port in the menus.

Anything we make can be stacked back there.. we have integrated the adapter module into the +1 so you don't need both anymore. You put this directly onto the back of the camera, and then stack your other modules onto it.

The 3rd party stuff is not a question for me to answer.. we dont make those.

Is there a spec sheet for stuff like the pin-outs, max current output, and mating connector PN for the aux out?

Does that mean you can disable the EVF port and return to HDMI functionality without removing the module?

Yes, it shows up in the software as the rear LCD, and you can select touch functionality of that port in the menus.

Will you keep offering the regular module adapter for super-budget-conscious users?

yes of course.. there is just a bunch of space in them.. so thought we would kill two birds with one stone with this new module.

You can disable it.. but the module has a hard connection into the HDMI port.. so if you want to use the HDMI port on the brain for something else, you will need to remove it. HD-SDI port is still open and available though. If you want both an extra monitor port and the HDMI port, then you move up to the Pro/io module.

Thanks Jared.

Perhaps what I should have asked is....
Do the backs of all of your modules have the same physical
mounting connectivity as the camera back?

Ah Ok. Thanks!

Well, this WAS on my list to buy this coming week, but being suddenly unemployed cuts into that.

Shame, would have been really useful. Oh well, I guess it's a carrot on a stick for when work comes back in.

Still, looks like a really worthwhile add on.

Anyone knows what cable to get to power a SmallHD DP6 from the +1 module? Like some Lemo-to-JAG35 or Lemo-to-NP-FV70 (cause I have the dual battery plate on the back of the monitor)? Thanks!

Maybe this?

There's loads of D-Tap-to-JAG35 cables around, when can we get powering cables from RED for all our monitor and sound accessories?! :)
