I ordered a some of these handles recently, they're smaller than I thought they'd be, about 3" long by 1" thick, but they screw together end to end so you can make them as long as you want, and don't take up any space in my parts bag. Too cheap not to get, I bought 4 just to have around. I've found I've been using them all the time to just have a handle where ever. Been using two with almost every camera setup since I got them.

Thought this might be useful to anyone on a budget, or even not on a budget. Just useful.

So you are going to hang $20k+ off of an $8 Chinese 1/4 20 bolt. Good idea.

No. I wouldn't use this as my only support system.

(The overal snarkiness of reduser makes me not want to contribute much. It'd be nice we could be constructive and helpful without being @ssholes to each other.)

Anyway...before I put one on my scarlet I tried to brake one of them. I couldn't, so knowing I wasn't ever going to put that much pressure on my camera I feel fine using them to get an odd grip when needed.

It's alright, Nick always has his cereal pissed on in the mornings, that's just how he acts.

Thanks for the heads up Pete, seems like something useful for different applications. I'll probably use it for a handheld directors monitor, seems like it'll work well.

The one thing I find as funny when people talk about all these Chinese knock offs is that no one ever brings up the fact that a lot of the companies that we are defending clearly have absurd markups on their products. We instantly assume that these markups are justified by quality. Who is really taking advantage of you.

Is that a canadian thing? Pissed on cereal? Not familiar with the expression, but I like it.

Nothing wrong with chinese stuff, I own a lot of it from electronics to generators. The point being that hardware is rated, and rated for a reason. Low quality chinese hardware has a well known reputation for being made of crappy alloys, and failing miserably in any kind of a high stress environment. A 1/4 20 bolt at the end of 3" lever is easily broken even with a rated bolt.

A useful guide -

I can only imagine the stress of DPing or directing massive multi-million dollar features is what makes certain people so testy/sarcastic on here..

Just before I sold my R1, I lifted it off the work table and I noticed a crack on the 200.00 dollar Red Handle. Set it down, unscrewed and as I pulled it off, the mounting broke right off. I was moments away from having it break off while holding the camera. If I didn't have it on the table, the camera would've splatted on the floor. In short, I wouldn't hang my camera off a 200.00 piece built in California. No matter the price, it's either well built or not.

That said, I like the idea of having a few simple quick handles lying around. Too bad they don't have them in 3/8".

It's true...that is a good point. I don't use these handles alone. They make for a good additional point of contact that can be put anywhere along with my WC side handle and Red sliding top handle. They're just an extra handle, never the main handle, and I think they're perfect for that.

Why is there so much Chinese product hate on reduser? That computer you are posting from, the furniture you sit on, most of the car you drive, and the majority of the parts inside your camera (whether or not it is advertised as "made in america") is made in China.
