Permanent will store the imported map as your default user cal map (and will re-program the map on camera .. which will take ~10 min)

Temporary will allow you to use the imported map as long as the camera is powered up, assuming you don't re-black shade or reset to the factory or currently stored user map. However if you power cycle, the camera will revert to the map stored in it's internal memory. This operation takes only about 15 seconds. This mode is intended as a time saver in case you have some maps stored off camera and need to shuffle through them quickly.

OK, thanks for confirming that.

How do I get the directional buttons on the RedMote to move the rectangle? Currently they just move the selection across the menu bar.

I don't have a camera in front of me, but you should be able to select the rectangle by pressing down on the d-pad of the Redmote (assuming it's in local mode).

For those having issues with the RAW view giving funky images, going to playback mode and back seems to snap it back.
Also, deselecting the Tools option for the SDI output still shows the RAW view on that port. Bug i'm assuming?

Sleep Mode :

Once Epic awakes with RedMote attached / connected, RedMote remains in sleep mode ... other than disconnecting RedMote from the back of the Epic and re-connecting, any other way to awake the RedMote (pressing buttons on the RedMote does not seem to do anything).

Does that mean it will replace the "factory calibration"?

The factory calibration is permanently stored on the camera and cannot be overwritten. Only the 'user' calibration will be overwritten if you choose to import and store.

Awesome update! It's great to have a whole new camera AGAIN! I haven't had a chance to work with it a lot yet, but the only problem I'v e run into so far is after coming out of 1:1 focus check, changes in ISO had no effect. I saw someone else state the same thing.
Thank you RED Team for the great holiday present!

Oh dear, thanks guys at Red for a brilliant new camera. Would you mind chatting to my long suffering wife who when I told her I had a new camera made me sleep in the garden for two days until I persuaded her it was a free firmware upgrade and all part of Reds fantastic customer service.. I'm still not convinced she believes me but at least I'm now allowed to sleep on the sofa...
Seriously though guys it's a brilliant update, thankyou Jim.

Btw, how do we report bugs in the most efficient maner for beta builds?

Here are a few niggles that I have found so far. In general the display modes does not seem trustworthy any more.
- RAW display sometimes looks very strange. It gets very strong contrast and for me more reddish. Go into playback mode and back and it will be good again.
- Sometimes ISO changes doesn't update correctly. Nothing happens
- If you are in magnify mode and press RAW then a big square will be to the right. The other modes looks good though.
- When I press the Set White Balance I can get a strong color shift on the screen. After this nothing updates in the display modes. If I change ISO, white balance nothing happens.
- The prerecord yellow button behaves a bit strange. If I have prerecord and then press Record the yellow button will usually stay even though expected behaviour is that it turns off.

To reproduce these errors what I do is press all the display modes, change iso, go to magnify, go to playback/record mode back and forward. It will quite often trigger some problems.

Great fun to play with the new build!
Best,
Andreas

This thread is a great place to mention bugs or issues you've had. We're monitoring any feedback we get here.

You can also contact support http://www.red.com/contact_us and send in your log for us to investigate any issues you may be having

These are most likely due to an issue others have reported with going in and out of magnify. We should have this fixed in the next beta release.

- The prerecord yellow button behaves a bit strange. If I have prerecord and then press Record the yellow button will usually stay even though expected behaviour is that it turns off.

Have not seen this one yet, please send in your log if possible.

The expected behavior is this:
trigger pre-record via key press - record indicator will turn yellow
trigger recording via rec button press - record indicator will turn red
trigger end of record via rec button press - record indicator will turn yellow indicating finalizing and then disappear.

Thanks for all of the feedback.

Merry Christmas everyone!

What all info is written into the log? Is every action that you do/camera does written into the log, or is it just when an error happens? Would love to get an insight of what's really in it so I could get a better idea of how much you can see from the log and therefore I can reproduce bugs better for you to fix.

I have a moment while digesting Xmas food stuffs.

Found another weird bug yesterday Matt. Here was the scenerio:
- camera up for approximately 45 min
- enhanced focus on
- zoomed into 1:1 pixel
- zoomed out
- LCD 5.0" Touch dimmed to black and camera became unresponsive

A simple reboot fixed it.

I'm noticing this slight dimming/fade effect when zooming in and out that I don't think is normal. Dips for a second then it cones back. This time above it just dipped to black.

I Have exactly the same issue. RED?

A

When in doubt about a bug or bug report, contact support. Write a brief message about what the issue is, how to reproduce it and send in the log. It's sometimes tough to filter everything that comes in on the forum. :)

In addition to any errors or warnings, we get a view of what the current state of the camera is along with a time-stamp view of most of the actions that have occurred over several boot cycles.

A good description of the problem and how to reproduce it, along with the log, really helps us track down problems quicker.

Thanks Phil. I've seen a few other reports of this happening sporadically. We'll keep an eye out and try to reproduce it in the lab.

You may also be able to get the LCD back by unplugging/re-attaching the LCD.

Hi Matthew,

I 'had' the same issue. I've done one black shading, one shutdown and the issue seems to have disappeared. After a shoot I have scheduled in early Jan I've agreed with Chris at Red Europe to send the camera in as I had some fringing issues before, again the issue seems to have disappeared. Many thanks for your reply.
