  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet and Epic BUILD 4 BETA

Trent: If i understand Pre-Record properly...it's only enabled on shot by shot basis? Or, if i check Pre-record box, it's enabled full time until i uncheck that box yes? That would be how as a shooter i would want it to activate. I expect most wildlife folks are in this same boat. Underwater it is in fact more demanding to go through setup to choose that each time if it is shot by shot basis. Second, would be nice to have user set time....i like only 2-3 secs for pre-roll.
Thanks again, this build is quite an improvement.

3d Over-Cranking

3d Over-Cranking

Trent, I asked this in my own post, but no replies and hoping for a positive response.

Shooting 3d with this or future builds....will we be able to overcrank to user specified FSP ? At moment we can only over-crank by multiples of the time-base which is a drag underwater since we loose too much light hitting sensor if we jump from 24 to 48fps....would like to be able to shoot at 30 to 40fps while time-base is 24fps.

Will this EVER be possible or is there a shutter issue that will not allow this? or some other issue?

Thanks again....

You can map the pre-record trigger to any button - so hitting rec will roll normally, or hitting your mapped button will put into pre-record mode. I was loving it testing yesterday (had mine mapped to button 2 on ssd module, right above my normal rec was convenient)

Yes, i did see that post early on....but does not help those of us shooting underwater that have a trigger setup for record only and just at a convenient place where we instinctively know to pull the trigger.

I would suggest that Pre-Record is either enabled or NOT enabled (by checkbox) and works with your standard Record button. Just makes sense and fewer mistakes when one goes to pull the trigger and you then forgot to push button two on SSD or top button on LCD. Much of what we do as camer operators is non-visual in that we have reflex reactions and record for me is setup on my right hand side and my "trigger" index finger. To reach forward with my left hand index finger would break those habits. Maybe i'm not thinking outside the box here, but sometimes too many options becomes confusing.

speedramp : how to correct aperture ?

speedramp : how to correct aperture ?

I have a simple question: raising fps from 24p to 200 fps, for example, cause a consistent underexposition. Which is the simplest way to correct this?
Again, anyone knows how to set a key for playback clips on/off using sidehandle without the touchscreen?

If you desire a constant exposure on a ramp from 24 fps to 200 fps you'd need to start at a 1/200 exposure.

The camera will 'attempt' to keep a constant exposure through the ramp, but if the exposure set is not possible it will set it to the max exposure at the current frame-rate.

I agree. If I want pre-roll on, then I want it to stay on, not just be for one shot.

I'm not sure I understand your problem shooting time lapse in 5K.

I think I'm being v dumb... I'm setting the mode to Internal Timelapse Timer. Format at 5k, Project FPS to 24.00, so what does the Sensor FPS actually effect? Thanks

It's not impossible to do this, but you would need to provide a valid tri-level sync input at a non-standard video rate... or drive the sensors completely with an external pulse.

The camera will always be limited internally to multiples of the incoming sync rate.

The FPS slider will affect your overall exposure range during capture. ie, if you're FPS slider is set to 24 you will be limited to a 1/24 max exposure.

....i'd suggest that when going into timelapse, those functions then take control over any other settings... I believe R1 worked like this when in TL mode. I had this same problem yesterday shooting TL and could not get shutter angle to where i wanted it...bottomed out at 1/24 as well....I now know i have to ALSO set FPS to 1 and if i understand correct...if setting up say 3fps every X seconds, then we should choose 3fps in FPS menu --outside of the Internal Timelapse settings area?

Press the menu button on the side handle, then navigate to Settings->Playback

It's on the list for improvements :)

The time-lapse setup dialog you should have all the controls necessary to set up your shot.

I want to set a key not navigate to setting.

Mapping a key to playback / preview (record) mode is already possible (including the stills/motion switch).

In the key mapping dialog (Settings -> Setup -> Keys) press the key you want to remap - in your case slide the stills/motion switch in one direction. Then pick from one of the following actions (depending on the behavior you want):
Go To: Preview
Go To: Playback
Playback/Preview: Toggle

Note that when in playback pressing record will also return back to preview.
