So I thought it would be fun to share a few photos of my BT Red One, along with the rest who care to jump in as well. It took a little over 5 weeks to receive my R1, so in the interim, I stayed really bused building it out by purchasing most items second hand here on the for sale forums. I probably purchased some items from a few of you! Anywho, here are a few photos of my fully assembled cinema camera (and yes, that is my R1 sitting atop a Manfrotto 501HDV :yesnod:)...

My R1 kit "load out":
BT R1 MX w/1250 hrs
7" RED LCD
RED EVF (not pictured)
RED handle and top extension
12mm rails on top, 18mm rails on bottom (19mm)
Oconnor O box w/top and side flags
RED Brick w/RED universal 19mm top mount
RED bottom plate
ALLSTAR R1 dovetail
Nikon lens mount (I use Nikon and Zeiss ZF primes; Zeiss ZF 100mm pictured)

Be sure to check out my blog at www.RonikFilms.com for videos, footage stills, and reviews on testing with my new RED!

Looks cool Matthew, I'm also in on the BT Red One and I want to use it handheld. Your handheld rig, with camera and everything, how much does it weigh?

Mine is around 45 to 50lbs when its a fully loaded cinema rig!! Its no HDSLR!!!

How do you manage to get it up to 50lbs? With zoom lens?

My BT Red One in hand-held mode. Rokinon Cine 14mm lens, Small HD viewfinder, modified Tilta shoulder mount with a shoulder pad from a Sony DSR-400 replacing the original pad, and a home-made wooden hand grip.
Not too horribly heavy.... 21 lbs.

Yes sometimes...it depends on how you accessorize the rig....50 may be a little over doing it but close..very close

BT MX on GPI PRO rig

BT MX on GPI PRO rig

Just picked up a lens today and figured I'd set the thing up, minus the LMB5 (looking for one w/ a 114 back -- if you're selling one plz get a hold of me).

The RED MX is one of my favorite digital cameras to operate w/ Steadicam as the masses are spread well, and there is actually mass (hello EPIC... ;) to help stabilize the image.

Attached is the pic of the RED MX mounted onto my GPI PRO Gen III sled; 17-50 RED Zoom Lens, Preston FI+Z with 3 motors (a hell of a challenge to mount onto this lens).

WINTER PROJECT:

Adapting the cradle to have a Anton Bauer mount to bring the onboard battery an inch (or more) closer to the cradle/center of mass.
Install Cheeseplate (top)
Get Schneider IR ND's (full set).

Looking forward to taking this to set as my dedicated Steadicam Camera (Saves a TON of time over having to switch back and forth between Steadi and Studio Mode).

It is from Long Valley Equipment. You can find it here: http://longvalleyequip.com/redhandle.php
I am happy with it so far. Very solid, yet light weight. Also very reasonably priced.

Heh heh! I must have watched their you tube video! I remembered seeing it from more than one angle because I remembered it with the drive plate on one side!

Thanks for getting back to me! It definitely looks like an interesting option.

Got my rig up and running today!
I also have grips and shoulder pad for it.
I have gear to make it a more compact rig also,
so I guess you can say this is my studio rig.

Only 36 hours, looks brand new!

Zacuto Universal baseplate?

Hi Stian, Have you found the Small HD HDMI connection to be a little loose on the camera side? I am wondering if there is a way to secure it so it doesn't wiggle. Maybe a different cable with a built in 90 degree plug? What has been your experience?
Thanks.

Hi Chris!
I do in fact use a 90 degree plug now.
I have also placed a snap on ring to the 15mm rails
which you can snap cables into so they stick in place.
Works like a charm!

That way it wont rip out unless you really yank it.

I can snap some shots of it for you if you want?
