Red confirmed that 48GB SSD did not work with the current build of the Red One camera.
Red claimed that the 48GB SSD will work with the Red One with the beta firmware.
So I decided to trust them and buy a whole pack of 4x48GB SSD.
And I got the SSD now but no camera yet and now they suddenly changed their mind and claim that the 48GB SSD WILL NOT work with current build of firmware until a new firmware release.
And they said there's NO estimated date of when the firmware will be available. Maybe tomorrow? Maybe next week? Maybe 10 years later? Who knows?
So even I have the camera and the SSD I won't be able to shoot anything until a new firmware release in the unknown future.
So they lied and we got cheated and I'm surprised Red company being so irresponsible for breaking promises and tell lie to their own customers.
In fact I'm pretty disappointed.
I can't imagine a company actually charge money to sell a product that do not work and even they don't know when it will work especially when they claimed firmly it will work which is the opposite of the reality

The only way I can make sure it works is to go through all the trouble to ship it back to Red, wait for them to process it and return my money back and then buy the 64GB SSD and wait for them to ship again. I believe it will take around a month.
And I need to pay for the restock fee if I actually opened the package. And of course I have opened the package because it is a common sense to open the package and inspect for defect once you receive a product you buy.

So what should I do now?

I actually want to keep the 48GB SSD but I really need to know when the firmware will be available. It is REALLY UNBELIEVABLE that they release an SSD for their own camera but their camera don't support it.
It is a real big joke.

I believe the SSD won't work even with the beta firmware.
People who bought the 48GB SSD will need to wait for a new firmware.

Correct it's been stated by numerous posters that they have to wait for the new firmware to use it. I'm in the same boat but luckily I bought 1 64gb card but wanted to have the 48gb there aswel and then hopefully buy a pack in the coming months. I can just hope the firmware is released in the next few weeks. Think I read a post somewhere saying it was expected to be released on the 3rd week of november so hopefully soon.

I have not seen where Red has promised 48GB SSD functionality in V32 firmware - it is not in the release notes or the post where the beta was released or in the store. Was this something the Bomb Squad rep indicated? An old post? I would have liked a 48GB for the R1 as well, but went with 64 for this very reason. As for not supporting it - the 48GB was made for the Scarlet. I also wouldn't base critical purchasing decisions on beta versions of software - there are too many things that can change.

Well, it doesn't work! :(
tested it a few minutes ago. If you are running build 32 or 31 doesn't matter!
Only 2k, redcode 26 usable! :(
Anybody out there in europe who wants to trade 3x 48gb for 2x 64gb? :)

Ugh. I had a bad feeling about the 48GB cards. I went with the 64GB thinking someday I'll own an Epic and then I'll still be able to use it.

Sorry to hear about this situation for those of you that got the 48.

I emailed red specifically asking if the 48GB SSD would work and they said Yes, but you will need to upgrade (easy)... But you can only shoot in 2k! :( Bummer

ANYONE FROM RED, PLEASE CHIME IN ON THIS....WHATS UP WITH THAT? WHAT KIND OF UPGRADE IS THAT?

But no one knows when the firmware will come out.

Can someone from Red please give some news regarding proper support for the 48GB SSD.
I find it quite disappointing that;
A) I have a RED1MX setup that can only shoot in a cropped, low bitrate 2k mode due to the purchase of the 48GB SSD.
B) That the RED store did not warn me prior to purchase that this was the case with the 48GB SSD.
C) There has been no word other than "The updated firmware is a high priority of ours and we are hoping it will be released in the very near future." or something similar, to quote my rep on the 8th Jan.
