  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New: Rocket driver 1.4.32.0 & firmware 1.1.6.11

Houston we are go for launch! Thanks for sorting this out....macbook retina thunderbolt appears to be online and working better then before. cheers.

Running rMBP and Magma Chasis.
I just updated: Pr to 6.0.0.2 - new RR driver/firmware - OSX 10.8.2 in that order. Had some osx crashes and problems in RCX and Pr. Installed the RR driver again in OSX 10.8.2 and it seems to be working fine.
Will see if it holds up after a few restartes and uses of Pr and RCX.

@jordan - are you using a MBP or rMBP? It seems the update is for the MBP and not the rMBP.. at least I'm not getting an update notification for it.

Hi Tehben,

I've been testing with a 13" Retina MacBook Pro and the latest edition MacMini. I'm using the Sonnet Echo Express Pro chassis as well as the Sonnet xMac Mini Server chassis.

Have not yet tried to install the Supplemental Update 2.0 or the new Thunderbolt Firmware Update.

Best,

- Jordan

Help needed please. I have updated the new RR link posted here but still won't allow the Mlogic chassis work properly on on MBPretina 15in. I'm running 10.8.2 I tried the chassis on a friends MBP (non retina) and it seemed fine. The firmware i'm running is 1.1.16.11 I have got away with this till now but need this to work for monday as I have a big job to transcode

Suggestions would be most welcome.

I'm considering a clean install of OSX as nothing seems to work

Giles: are you sure you also installed the new driver? Can you confirm in RCX (by clicking on the Rocket icon) that you have driver 1.4.32.0 and firmware 1.1.16.11?

Also, are you sure you power cycled the laptop? Furthermore, make sure to power on the enclosure before you power up the laptop.

Thanks Rob,

Yep you hit the nail on the head. the firmware update had failed. Thanks for this, Mlogic running like a dream now.
I love it when a plan comes together

I've made my first job with 15" MBPr and Rocket via Thunderbolt (Sonnett Pro Chassis) yesterady with 10.8.2 and new driver/firmware, it works but only after a power cycle. I make the copy from USB3 REDstation to a USB3 Drive and than render writing to an 6GB/s SSD on a Sonnett Tempo SSD Pro. If I do not power cycle between the copy and the render I've got errors from Frame 1 in trascoding and sometimes I can't put any clip from Project or bin to the viewer and I have to "Force" to quit RCX 16.

Carlo can you please send us an RCX log file or Saved report from the help menu to Redcinex at red dot com.

Hey RED,

My RedRocket was previously running fine on 10.8.1 with the older version of the redrocket driver. The other day I downloaded the new driver and updated to 10.8.2, and now the RedRocket is failing after about 5 minutes of processing. I'm getting RR Callback - Decode Failed. Footage is 4KHD 23.98 with no effects or changes applied.

Help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Scratch that! Didn't catch that there was a new firmware as well. Installed that and it's now running normally again.

Rob & Mathew,

Sorry to bother you boys but i'm getting errors like crazy. Updated everything and everything is a no go even on my MacPro could you check my log and let me know what the deal is?

To whom do i send it to?

Thanks,

I have now updated the RED ROCKET firmware and driver to the latest version. However, I experience some serious issues. When the ROCKET is activated clips cannot be loaded. The viewer in REDCINE-X Pro remains black. If I try to deactivate the ROCKET, REDCINE-X freezes completely. Any ideas?

I'm running the REDROCKET via a Sonnet Thunderbolt chassis on a MacBook Pro Retina (OSX 10.8.2).

EDIT: The problem seems to be solved. My external monitor somehow interfered with REDCINE-X.

Freezing up a lot in Pr on my setup. Had to stop using it on my current project.
I will try to trouble shoot and send out logs etc. when I have more time.
Bummer.
