I would really like to see a hot swappable solution between my v-mount battery and the revolts in the side handle.
this does not seem possible in the current build 3.3.14.

Some previous build I don't recall, had the ability to switch to the revolts when my v-mount batteries ran low. I would really like to have this back again.

Unless this problem is unique to my camera, then I will open a ticket.

This should work, if it doesn't work there may be an issue with your side handle. I had to send mine in for repair. Submit a support ticket.

More details on my problem: I can hot swap from my v-mount battery to redvolt side handle if my voltage is not too low.
However, if the voltage dips below 13 or 12 volts the camera shuts down and it does not swap over to the redvolt in side handle.
i am using a x v-mount plate and IDX batteries on my Epic.

i asked RED support about this and was told I need to use red quick plate with red ricks to solve this issue.
Before I lay down over a thousand dollars on a quick back with quick plate and red bricks, I am wondering if there anyone has had success using Redbricks with a x plate - will the camera detect low voltage and automatically switch to the redvolt side handle.

OR

using a red plate with third party battery like IDX. Any middle ground solution that does not involve replacing my entire power system would be helpful.

It would be great to hear from someone who has a RED quickplate to see if this is a third party issue or simply a firmware problem.
Will your camera swap to side handle REDVOLT when battery gets low? IF the answer is Yes, are you using this with third part batteries or only REDBRICKS?

I was told by RED that a RED quickplate and Redbricks would solve this problem, but I would like to hear it from a user first before making the investment.

Seems to sometimes it works and sometimess it doesn't. That sucks, because in real world i never use it, because i cant be sure it works. I think its mainly a firmware thing and red should sort this out, and make it work 100% of the time. The ability to hot swap with one redvolt in de sidehandle is great (when it works :)

Joe, try this before you spend a bunch of money on new power.....boot up the camera on the red volt only.....then power down......mount the V mt or AB battery and boot up......hot swapping should work for the rest of the day. I've been doing this for a year now, pretty consistent but a PITA.

Thanks Steve, I will try that first.

I had this problem a while ago and contacted by BSquad rep and they fixed the problem!

Meant I had to send in my camera but they were quick turn around!

I had to have hot swapable full time in the field . We work hot almost all the time all the time and now it does!

Best,

Kennan

I having the same problem. Everything I have for power is from RED, I have the RED battery quick plate and RED bricks. It seems it likes and dislike certain REDvolts given the firmware. I label all my Bricks and REDvolts, so it was easy to know which of my REDvolts was hot swappable per build. i.e. REDvolt 1 and 3 is hot swappable with this build. REDvolt 2 and 4 is not with this build? But as long as I use either REDvolt 1 or 3 when I shoot I'm good with the current build. It was the other way around with the last build.
