We use a cinema oxide back plate with a Swit Plate with Epic lemo connection (bought from W-den Cam-ra). Reasonable price at about 700.00. We also use an Anton Bauer Matrix plate (with 19mm adaptors) with Red Plate attached to it. I actually prefer this method as it mounts off the rods, leaving more accessible real estate on the top plate of your Epic. Also, it balances better for hand held. But I think the best design out there right now is The Battery Slide from W-den Cam-ra. The price is great. It does everything the AB Matrix plate does but easily adjust to low slung mode for hand held or high mode for normal use. It's cheap at 200.00. You'll need to add their tiny versal 19mm or 15mm bracket then their Swit batt plate, bringing the total to 640.00. Can't be beat. I wish this was available when I was putting together my package. I own a lot of their gear and the workmanship and customer service is top notch.
Again, this all depends on whether you plan to use studio or LWS rods. I tend to use studio rods and find back back style plates make the Epic ridiculously overcrowded. Mounting the batt on rods, let's you breath a bit IMO and balances better.
