I was going to buy a BlackMagic Cinema camera. But delay after delay kept disappointing me. Then Jim went crazy and reduced the price of everything.

So about 3 seconds after reading the announcement I tried to buy one of the cameras.
But nothing happened. I kept clicking over the red.com and nothing.

Holy Crap. Everyone is buying up these cameras and I am stuck in clicking hell.
Finally after a few minutes I get in.

There it is.. Two versions. Red One CF and Red one with SSD.
Which do I get? A few seconds later. SSD is more expensive option for same price I will get that one.

Done ordered.. Paid for.

Holy double crap I need things for it now..
Massive Ebay and red forum hunt ensues..
Found awesome deals.. Still waiting on confirmation on a monitor. More stress until I here back from him. If you are reading this.. PM me and let’s make our deal.

In the end..

Red One camera 4,000
Nikon Mount
5” LCD monitor
AC adapter
Batteries/ Charger
SSD drive
Red rails
Cables, Arm
Total 1,800

5,800 I now have a camera that would have cost me over 25,000 just hours before and I was not even considering it due to it’s high cost.

I already own the best Nikon Glass on earth plus incredible sound gear.
Just needed a high end 2.5K or 4K cam.

So a sleepless night and unnecessary worrying didn’t totally ruin my life. But I think I am going to wake up tomorrow and this will all had been a dream.

Somebody pinch me..

Don't forget SSD cards. You still won :)

As a heads up, I believe the Scarlet only cards actually do work with the Red One.

Congratulations!

The Epic price drop is tremendous, but the Red One reduction that also came with it is pretty much the deal of the year.

Best post! Pinch! :D

Okay, I was ready for another thread where someone ripped Jim and Jarred apart. You got me.

Good on you for getting the bits and pieces at a good price. The sticker shock will be with the media. Although it's still competitively priced in the market, it still is expensive. A 256GB SSD will cost you more than half the cost of the camera. But you'll still be way ahead of the game. Also, you could consider a combo of RED Drives and SSDs.

I dont Think anyone in theis Community has had any Sleep regarding the RED deals... ITs literally Christmas Come Early....

I got tired of reading some of the posts about how horrible it was to drop prices.

I think Red has proven they know what they are doing.

Red keeps changing the game and other companies seem to always be laying catch up.

Now I need to get a 320gb red drive and a few more things.

I will post all of the 4.5k WS footage I shoot of my cats in here first. LOL

Ongoing joke on the DVX user forum for DSLR's.

A quick thought on the lowered prices of the RED ONE. My initial thought when hearing that the prices were lowered was "great, now I can buy another RED ONE which solves our having to rent a second camera issue". However, I then realized that one of our company assets had just been sliced by over 20k.... Now I kinda feel like a man might if his wife were to tell him "bad news, I cheated on you. But good news, the guy paid me 5 million to do it so now were rich".

A little shocked at first, then happy, then shocked again....

I wonder if this means that market trends will see camera package rates lowering because RED just set the standard at 4k for 4k. The additional not so great thing is that they made this technology easily available to the prosumer/amateur market. If you were a Mercedes dealer and suddenly you could buy one for the price of a motorcycle, wouldn't people stop driving motorcycles. Granted the freeways would look prettier but its not gonna help the LA traffic....

Your thoughts welcome. RED 1138
