  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'll even trade a 17" MacBook Pro (late 2011 model) for one. Unfortunately it doesn't come with the GRAID Thunderbolt 8TB drive.

why are you A) wasting everyone's time including yours with posts like this and B) trying to bring down the perceived value of the Red 1. The CF module one sold out in hours and Im willing to bet the SSD one will sell out quickly as well. Meaning that the value of these cameras is still over 4K especially considering that after tax and shipping you are looking at closer to $4500 from Red
 
and it's body only. a real shooting package with multiple SSDs will cost a lot more than 4K. Now, if you already have all the accessories then perhaps it truly is a $4k purchase. But anyone buying for first time will need that stuff, so plan accordingly.

I'd put the R1 in my personal museum before ever giving it away. :-)

A buddy of mine just left my office and was willing to sell his RED One M for $1000. The value of the RED One MX has just been dropped by RED... it was already dropping before on here. The value of the camera is what I can get it for... I'll let you know if I can get it for 2k or for free. I personally wouldn't pay over 4k for a used RED One MX. I'm sure many others won't either.

Yeah I just need a body... it's like a cheap sensor upgrade.

but seriously, i think once they sell out of the stock they are liquidating the prices will jump back to where they were...

I don't think so...the prices were already horrible low on here... RED decided to slaughter the chicken and I don't think there is any life coming back into it.
 
i mean there is a finite number priced at this price, when they are gone, its up to ebay/sellers where they feel the market is... i tried for so long to get a deal on a red one that i gave up and bought a used scarlet 2 months ago...

BTW - This is the Apple model....I suppose the Jobs/Jannard model now.
Cannibalize your own products to keep yourself revelant in a fierce marketplace and world.

Hats off to Jim...it's tough to do...just ask Eastman Kodak.

I'm with you brother. It blows my mind how many people knock down the RED ONE...yes no path to DRAGON...but still delivers a freaking awesome picture!

I believe that the RED one prices will go up again once inventory is depleted...what we have now is no different than what happened immediately after Nov 1, 2011 when the SCARLET was announced...you saw complete RED ONE packages being sold for under 10 grand....insane and gross...anyone remembers?...and then the market started to shift upwards...I've followed a couple of RED ONE sales and I've seen them sell as a kit for $15K to $20K last week...
 
This thread is totally asinine and shameful to EVERY Red owner. Red One MX is practically free at $4K! Outside of Scarlet, Epic, Alexa, F65, C500, and new Sony cameras, no camera comes close to touching its image...price wise only Scarlet does. And in totally honesty, I'm a Scarlet owner and love her to death, but I know for a fact Red One MX creates a much cleaner image (and you don't have to screw with black shading every second!)

For you outsiders, the BMCC is a nice little 2.5K camera...but extremely toyish all around. It only dreams of being in Red One MX territory!!! Lets not forget how many AMAZING films have been shot on the MX.

I will step of my soap box now....but please let's not act like our pets heads are falling off!
