hi can someone please show me to where I can watch scarlet footage? no not camera tests unless they are shot in lit dramatic environments. most of the stuff I find online have been of music video footage where they've used Epics and scarlets (obviously idk which shot was used with which camera) and I would really just like to see how the scarlet holds up in a feature film type setting.. not doc style, or random landscape shoots.. anyway I'm dying to see some short films shot with a scarlet and I'm seriously having a hard time finding good ones that do the camera justice. please help. just want to make sure I'm making the right decision with gambling on shooting with the scarlet. I know epic is currently very reasonably priced, but I don't rent out my gear so I'm not sure I want to be spending $10k more.

oh yes you do,
my advice - rent a Scarlet for a day, shoot 4K and 5K, even at 12fps scaled down to 1080 the difference is huge,
plus to try the whole workflow before you buy any camera is a good idea, so if you're able to stretch you budget - do it now , you'll ending up buying an Epic later anyways

With no disrespect meant towards the examples already mentioned here, I think the best example of the type of Scarlet footage you're looking for comes from season 3 of Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family.

I know the subject matter isn't everyone's taste but you can always watch with the sound off.

You can see a few of the episodes here: http://beta.abcfamily.go.com/shows/pretty-little-liars/video/PL5547529/_m_VD55243355

Scroll down the page to the "featured episodes" section.

Season 3 started out looking good and the look has gotten even better over the course of the season. I'm assuming this is due to fine tuning what techniques and lighting best compliment the camera while still supporting the tone of the show.

only for US residence :(

there is a vimeo channel too

hey Joe, thanks for sharing. really liked the images you got out of the camera. that type of setting and mood is really close to what I'm going for.

This was one of my first little short films with the Scarlet. Look at the RAW image before and after in my brief blog entry then watch the video.

Brian this was an amazing examples. too bad I couldn't sit through a whole episode cause I'm not a little girl but this did show me that the Scarlet can produce amazing footage in all kinds of situations in the right persons hands. thanks

and BOB Gondu I just saw your footage for the other thread and I'm sending you a PM got some questions. thanks all.

You are absolutely right no one can tell Epic from Scarlet footage apart. So my suggestion to you is by a RED ONE. After all David Fincher shot "the girl with the dragon tattoo" on it. If he can do it so can you. lol. ; )

The realty is, its the cinematographer not the camera alone, so if you think dropping 10k to make your work more ... dramatic, cinematic, or what ever you would call it. Than don't.

Ask yourself the question, do I make a living of shooting motion content, am I perusing this professionally. If YES, and you can rase 10k+, than this is probably the best camera in its price class you can find on the plate at the given time.

Cheers. ///
