Thanks Mark. I have family and friends still in NYC. They are okay, which I am of course very thankful for.

P.S. John, prayers on their way.

I have alot of friends in New york... Im praying for you all.
Ive seen Cyclones (southern hemisphere Hurricanes) completely match stick towns here in AUS... I see how long they take to rebuild... I cannot even imagine what's going on over there in a place with millions of people and huge infrastructure problems.

Stay safe John.,, I wish you the very very best.

Wishing you guys the best NEW YORK, stay safe, help thy neighbor and stick together.

Ha ha, I did said it was an amazing dramatic shot, per ups too dramatic... :(

But since I sow similar dark cloud formations in one of Mark's posted pics I tough it could have been possible... ;)

John Engstrom at Scheimflug Digital is offering his gennies and pumps to people in need.

Call him (212) 244.8300

He's an awesome guy! Best of luck, New Yorkers! I'm sure you guys will have things rebuilt and better than ever in no time... I can't imagine a storm slowing down the great city of New York for long.

I'm in Manhattan, north of downtown blackouts and problems. Very lucky.
The huge, deep, ongoing roar of the wind in the buildings was incredible. Unimaginable.
It's hard to know how to help others in need, at this stage, after just 24 hours. It's difficult to get around.
There's a feeling from here (not in the real thick of the trouble) that cleaning up and making safe is something for the experts...
so we're trying to get on with prepping a shoot today.
We'll see how it goes. The producer (lives downtown) has been made homeless for a few days. We're doing a scout today, but I'm not sure we still have a location...

I'm stuck at home in Upper Manhattan. Our office has no power and I have a feeling the first floor of the building was probably underwater. We were very fortunate that we never lost power. I basically hunkered down with the family and introduced the kids to James Bond movies. The kids still have no school and until the subways can get pumped out, tested and back into service, I don't see things getting back into real functionality.

I feel bad for my friends downtown with no power.

Ketch...this is a known "fake photo" --- it was "out of" photoshop....

Wow looks like snapshots from a day after tomorow movie. Its always hard to grasp its real.

John Engstrom posted on Facebook to say his office has power and hot showers available.

Someone posted photos on his wall of he and his crew deploying gennies and pumps in Manhattan. What a guy!

Went out to take photos Monday and Tuesday... it was surreal to see people sitting down to brunch in Brooklyn while fires still burned in Queens and Manhattan lay dark.

The storm affected people very differently... Plum Island off the coast of Montauk is ok, while friends of family in Hoboken lost their homes. Food became difficult to find in lower Manhattan but people are filling up the restaurants in Brooklyn... that is the surreal part to me.

PS Nice going John and the Flug crew, that is ten kinds of awesome. Other rental houses are allowing people to hold onto their gear, but opening up your showers is above and beyond.

Things were fine Uptown, although the wind shook our building like crazy - me and my wife live on the 23rd floor. The building really sounded and moved like a very old, wooden boat out in the ocean! Frightening at times.

I have a view toward Central Park and lots of heavy branches snapped like matchsticks in the wind.

Other that the monstrous spectacle, things were fine in this part of the city.

We are hosting two people who live Downtown and they still don't have electricity and phone service over there (22nd street near East River).

The traffic was horrendous this morning.

I live in the north shore of Long Island and although we weren't hit as bad as some other parts of Long Island or New York city, the wrath of Sandy was definitely felt here.
I still have no power in my house but thank god the office is running and back to normal. There are traffic bumps all over and the closer you get to Manhattan, the worse the traffic gets.
I have to say that I am proud to be a new yorker. This city was hit with some tragic events and all along it picked itself up and rebuilt itself all over.
