So I usually use a PC to do all our firmware upgrades, as I prefer working with a PC. Today I tried to upgrade our EPICs' firmware using a mac. When the SSD drive shows up it shows up as read only. I tried this which has worked in the past.
1. select the external hard drives icon
2. right-click > Get Info (cmd + i)
3. expand the Sharing & Permission column
4. click on the lock at the bottom right
* You will be prompted for an administrator name and password.
5. once unlocked change the permission for user, group & everyone to read & write
6. click the little gear right below and select “Apply to enclosed items…
This did not work as the lock in step for did not appear. I looked on line and other people have had this issue but had nothing to offer in terms of a solutions. I am hoping one of my fellow REDusers will have a solution for this problem.
I was able to do this upgrade on a PC with same SSD no problem, but would like to be able to do it on both systems.
Thank you
