  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Just received an email announcing a free upgrade kit for the Side Handle.

I've been in this crazy business for about forty years and during that time I've been a customer of a lot of great equipment companies, but I've never known one that does as much for it's customers as Red.

I'm far from being a fan-boy, but Red is exceptional.

The little latch that releases the redvolt. a more sturdy one.
 
You may install yourself or send to Red for free installation.

Not had a problem with that.

An upgrade so that the control dial falls off less than weekly would however be beneficial...

i believe so. i had already sent an email to my bomb squad rep upon hearing about the upgrade and a few days later received the email. looks like they are just staggering the emails.

Red asked for most of my accessories when I sent in my M for upgrade and then it came back with a brand new side handle.

They care.

It rules.
 
Does anyone know what the turnaround is on these upgrades/field repairs? I call our bomb squad rep last Monday because we have been struggling with this problem.
 
Apple and RED are the two best companies in the world. Best design, craftsmanship, quality and customer service.

If only Apple listened and gave us the things we wanted and needed...

But anyway, I've never really had a problem with the battery latch. Is the upgrade a good idea regardless?

Sounds like a proper RMA/repair is in order on that one, Mike. Surely that's something they would take care of for you free of charge. I know it sucks going without a rather important component for some time, but do you really want to live with that for what may be a very long period of otherwise pleasant ownership?
 
Just replaced Rev 07 with Rev 09. Easy Peasy.
