  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

To all considering buying from Globalmediapro for batteries. Here's my situation. I needed some long life batteries for an upcoming project with our Scarlet-X. I ordered from Globalmediapro on 4/3/12 and, against my better judgement, made the wire transfer. They then notified me that my order would not ship until April 13. Well this would not allow us to have them in time, so I immediately asked them to cancel the order via email. Got no reply. Then I sent another email asking them to cancel the order. Still no reply. Then I got an email saying the order shipped yesterday on 4/6/12.

This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE and UNFAIR business practices and shows a lack of regard for the customer. Also, if you read in their legalize fine-print, they will not give refunds at all, but rather store credit. They apparently do not stock any product at all, but rather direct ship from the China.

I'm not sure how this will play out, but BEWARE OF BUYING FROM GLOBALMEDIAPRO!!!! Again, BUYER BEWARE! You will not be able to reach them by phone or email easily and you may be stuck with their product even if you don't want it. I would rather pay more and buy from someone you can trust.
 
Their batteries came to me lightening fast, they actually covered a cost deficit because my bank errored with currency type, and the batteries have performed flawlessly. My experience. To each their own.
 
Have ordered three times from GMP...without problems. Fast dispatch and very good products for the price.
 
"Dramatic Post Title" award for something us RED users are very used to. Tone down friend and maybe lay off that 5 Hour Energy for a day
 
Yea beware that those batteries are a good product for the price, works well on Epic and R1, in my case they also shipped really quickly.
Anyway Tim 9 days for a delivery isn't that long, may I ask you how long did you wait for your Scarlet to be delivered?

Thanks for the warning about an international company that ships quality batteries for a fraction of the price and exceeds their shipping estimates. Glad you're getting your batteries on time for your shoot now.
 
Looks like a possible spam account- these are Tim's first two posts, and he has the exact same post on another thread. It would have taken Tim 2 minutes with one search on these forums to evaluate everyone's experiences ordering and using batteries from GlobalMediaPro; most have been very positive, and I was actually surprised at their great communication, speed of delivery, and excellent packaging.
 
I have 3 batteries, ordered them and wire transferred, and got them within a week, I'm very happy with them.

Matrix twist . . . "Tim" is actually the sales manager at Global who post this red herring OP to elicit complimentary and supportive replies from RED Users thereby raising awareness, creating buzz and selling product without spending a single RMB on the effort.

This thread does not shine good light on global media. I will think twice before ordering from them.

"BEWARE GLOBALMEDIAPRO-BATTERIES SOMETIMES SHIP A COUPLE DAYS LATER THAN EXPECTED!"

And it's true. I ordered a pair and hoped they would come in 3-days like the last time I had ordered but they ended up taking 8 days. If you need something... FOR SURE... TOMORROW. Then don't order from a foreign company. Go down the store and pay 4x as much.

Technically all US companies are supposed to only ship large batteries by ground. I still haven't had a GMP shipment take longer than ground shipping from the east coast.

I only own RED bricks, and I love them, they are reliable and have never tried the Global Media Pro Batteries... I would ask them the following questions or do a basic search about V-Mount batteries (generic) from anywhere in the world...

1 - Are they refurbished...
2 - How many have failed this year to be returned
3 - What kind of life-cycle can I expect from them.......... Choose wisely.......
 
Quick OT question, can you charge the Globalmediapro Red compatible Vlocks on the Red one Vlock battery charger?
 
I did have a problem with my GMP dual channel charger where one channel died on me. They offered to replace it if I sent it back to them. When I said that I couldn't be without a battery charger for the amount of time it would take they immediately sent me a new dual channel charger and specifically said I did NOT have to return the partially working one to them! And they did it quick.

I don't know what else one could expect... that was the best result possible in my situation.

So far their batteries have been holding up awesome (3x 160Wh and 1x 190Wh that splits into 2 cells for air travel).

Their customer service has been extremely quick to respond to me (often within minutes or hours), and shipping has been pretty fast as well. They seem to want to offer solutions that work for me rather than stick hard and fast to policies. Again, what more could you ask for from your battery company?

Choose wisely indeed!
