I am having some trouble in After Effects with footage shot on the Red, and I wanted to see if any of you had experienced something like this before.

As I mentioned, the film was shot on the Red, edited in Final Cut 7 in Pro Res 422 LT, and exported into After Effects in 4444. The Quicktime that we exported plays fine and has the same running time as the Final Cut timeline. We performed all of the changes in After Effects, and exported the footage back into Final Cut to join with our sound mix.

However, once the footage is back in Final Cut, the movie is about 5-16 seconds longer than it was originally. The movie starts out in sync, but gradually get more and more out of sync as the film plays, so that by the end it is about 5 seconds off.

We're pretty confident that the footage was exported correctly, and that the frame rate settings are correct. Any other ideas as to what could be going on?

Frame rate settings in pre-comps?

I've recently had some issue working with Prores 4444 files, but not quite what you are describing.

It certainly sounds like a frame-rate issue to me.

Double check how the footage you imported is being interpreted by AE?

There are two menus of frame rates that you have to confirm. One is your comp setting and the other is your source setting. Right click your video asset in your bin and make sure AE is interpreting it at the right framerate.

Also might be worth trying to bounce your audio into AE rather than your video to FCP.
