  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Gunner Review is up! =) Pretty much everything you need to know.

Isn't there a shoulder mount or a way to set up a shoulder mount to avoid the shoulder tilt, neck jog and spinal curve? (If the camera were vertical his neck and shoulders would be bent and tilted even more.)

Thanks for bringing that up, I was thinking the same thing!

Edelkrone claims to have a solution. Haven't used it, but it looks like it might work. It's a backpack like kind of solution, because it distributes the weight to both shoulders. It's designed for DSLR work. Don't know if this is strong enough for EPIC/SCARLET.

There is one it's called "The Gym" :)

Works great with wheel handles. Tried to inverse the mounting too. Interesting. The only thing that annoys me, is that it is too short (maybe to keep up with a small form factor ?). Anyway, i have to dig more and test different rigging to pull the best of it.

Thank you for the review!

I've got one question left: Is there any chance to attach a 15mm rod support to the Gunner? I want to mount my Scarlet directly to the Gunner and avoid using the Modular Assault Plate and the Quick Release Platform in between.
I've found the SWAT Rail Clamp (15mm) that I could attach to the SWAT rails of the Gunner, but I'm not sure whether the distance among the rods or the distance to the lens is fitting. Or is there any other rail component that I could attach to the gunner to use 15mm rods? Probably 3rd party?

Cheers,
Moritz

Doubt that would work. I think you need the Quick Release Platform to raise the camera above the bulge at the front of the gunner to clear the space needed for a 15mm LW configuration. As for 15 Studio, the Gunner mounts the camera centered and adding a swat rail clamp on either side of the gunner, will not create the offset needed. I also doubt the heights will match your accesories.

To be honest, the more I looked into the gunner, the more I could justify a "Battle Tested" clutch.

Hey Tonaci, would you happen to know if the modular assault plate for mounting 15mm rods would work with the Gunner, if you were to bolt a Red QR plate to the Gunner? Cause I need a follow focus and rail mounted mattebox for my set up, and I wondered if the Gunner had a way to do 15mm lightweight rods.

Thanks!
