  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Carbonite Scope - It allows you to use your RED TOUCH 5.0" LCD display like an EVF

Is it me or does the build quality of this near $600 unit seem a bit offshore? The machining looks crude and the "graphite" housing looks to have rough mold lines. I need to see this product in hand before deciding if it has a place on my Epic. RED's standard of quality is consistent with mine. Not sure it this product measures up.

josh, I would suggest you don't buy it. I think you would be much happier with a Bomb EVF.

I guess I should point out that I have had this product in hand for 4 days now. I'm not going to comment on how pretty I think it's.. My focus was "does it do the job, does it mess up the balance on my monitor. It works extremely well, and it's very light. I love it. Am I bias? Yeah I like Jason and I am working with him. Would I say this stuff if it were crap. No.. No one would ever listen to me again.

I've reviewed and created training videos for over 50 products for the red one and now even more to add for epic and scarlet. You guys have never said I was wrong yet.

I'm more sure of this than anything else I've reviewed. Order through Infotech or wait... Either way it rocks.

if this was $399 I'd be pretty inclined to order it.
 
I Just unboxed my Carbonite Scope and I'm not disappointed. Its very well built. Josh you've nothing to fear in terms of quality here. You just chose a pretty ugly screen grab to make a judgement on .
It' simply works. It's the solution I have been looking for and Im thinking its totally worth it. Very bold of Cine Oxide to go with the expensive carbon fibre route but it look's bad ass and is uuuuber light weight !

I ordered and paid for one a few weeks ago but can't get them to respond to an email now about when it will ship. That's a little frustrating.

Jason has probably been away at NAB and busy as can be. Maybe try a phone call. He's always been very responsive to my email or phone call. I'd bet he's been crazy at NAB.
 
I also would really like a reply from jason, i mailed last week, last sunday and pmed yesterday, but no reaction, ordered on 28th of march, not a word since then...
