Hi, I notice that a lot of people choose the tokina as wide angle lense. Can you tell me if your are happy with it? what about the distortion?

In other hand the 16-35 form canon seems to be a killer but more expensive and less wide :/

I am between this too lenses !

I think you will have more enjoyment and be able to cover more shots by going with the 16-35 for all purpose shooting. However, it depends on the application you are shooting in. Others might prefer the 11-16.

We have the Duclos 11-16, Tokina 11-16, and Canon 16-35. I probably use the Canon the most.

I own both of these lenses and have been shooting with them for a few months on my Scarlet. In my experience with the Tokina, I've found that it works fine for landscapes, static shots, timelapses, etc. However, I find the barrel distortion in panning shots to be very distracting, the focus servos are a bit noisy and the AF is not quite as snappy as the Canon. The Canon is weather sealed, has silent ultrasonic focus servos and better lens coating. The Tokina is definitely very useful in certain situations (wide), but I think if I had to chose just one of the two lens you asked about, I would choose the Canon 16-35L. I would suggest you rent the two lenses and I'll bet you will discover which works best for you pretty easily.

I agree the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L is an incredibly useful length. I think why you see so many post regarding the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 is due to it's price to performance ratio and that it's pretty fast for an ultra wide.

Thanks everyone,

I think the canon will be my choice! the tokina seems to be an "effect" lense, that I can afford later for a particular shooting ; )
