Has anything officially been said about selling the aluminum mount as a seperate item? I don't ever use canon glass on proffessional shoots, but it would be nice to just throw on some smaller lighter lenses to go shoot the kiddo or anything thats just off the cuff. That being said I don't wanna invest 2000.00 in a mount that will barely get used.

Thank ya much sir... is the price 500.00? not sure why I thought I read or heard that, but that would be awesome

its $500 less than the titanium... coming in at $1500.

do we know for sure the canon aluminum mount is 500?

Im about to sell a bunch of my glass based on this just to have my cheap personal kit and my pl mount around for when I need high end glass

That's what has been said in the past. That is also the current price if you buy it with a Scarlet Brain, which is the only way you can buy one at this time.

Let me back you up, Jeff. The $500 for the canon al mount is the announced price. You would just have to dig for the post.
If the price will change in the future of course no one other than RED can tell, but it hasn't been added to the price increase list,
so you're pretty safe to assume they'll stick to the price.

Does the AL mount function exactly like the Ti mount?

why buy the Ti then?

Thanks Martin. So extreme heat or cold they keep their shape while Al shrinks/grows making lens fitting difficult?

Do these mounts support auto focus, auto zoom lenses that you find on Canon/Nikon glass?

Less prone to temperature changes. Even more solid. Awesome factor.

The mount is smart so everything is controlled. There is no such thing as controlled zoom as it exists on Broadcast or consumer cameras. The DSLR lenses don't have the motor to pull zoom. Has to be done externally. Watch out for the MEIZLER module... ;)

I wouldn't call fitting the lenses on AL difficult. :) just could be that focus critical work is even more stable on the TI, no matter what you throw at it. But the AL will most certainly work better than anything else what has been holding your DSLR lenses before. ;)
the TI has also been used to hold the RPP 300 without support (not something you should do, but still it has been done )

Does anyone know how much RED Europe will be charging for the Aluminum Canon Mount yet?

DD.

Alan told me that they are looking into reflecting the european prices in the online store. If nothing goes wrong this would be coming this year.

As for your question: this is just an estimation but it would be around $30 more for customs and shipping to RED Europe. I have no affiliation with RED, and the canon AL is not available yet as solo purchase, so all this is highly speculative! You will have to wait until it comes out, but as for now this estimation is the closest to the final price you can get.

Thanks Pat.

If the Aluminum Canon Mount is $500, that roughly translates to £315.58 at the current exchange (according to xe.com). Add on 20% VAT, and that comes to £378.69. So, I'd guesstimate it'd be around that price.

I'd imagine there'd be some sort of S&H import fee thrown in there for good measure, too.

The VAT is on top of what I calculated. If you have a VAT number that wouldn't concern you.

There's a small addition to the price for customs and shipping to get it to the UK. (in this case would probably amount to $30) Shipping to your location and VAT is on top. no handling fee.
