Hey guys,
Anyone know the load limits on the Ronford heavy duty, medium sticks and there baby counter parts? Can't find anything on the website. Anyone have anything to say on Ronford vs O'connor sticks?

JB

I regularly sit on ronford babies and sometime standards, I am around 225, so that shouldn't be a problem. Not sure what the published spec is. What are you trying to put on them?

They are the best tripods made. Don't know working weights We regularly work with 3D rigs on medium 2 stage legs. If you want to use them for a jib base Id use single stage which are a little stiffer.

Heavy Duty is designed for 65mm and 35mm motion picture cameras plus a gear head so you don't need to worry even with a heavy 3d rig. Meduim duty will handle more weight than most fluid head can carry so also don't worry.

The only thing Id say is I don't much like the levers on O'Connor legs, their heads are great but the legs are not so good. the leg locks on Ronford's can be a little small but they are practically insdistructable. Service from Ronford's is second to non. Any small part seems always available and send over night. Id recon I can guarentee all of our Ronford kit will be working well long after Im gone and Im not planning on leaving this planet any time soon.

I dont know your working environment but we often work in sand on beaches and Deserts and in Mud filming Wildlife. Other than a wash off and gentle TLC the legs continue to work fine. A Light set of carbon legs and Id not be so confident. I've not weighed a set of Carbon legs against aluminium but they don't seem any lighter but they are stiffer.

Heavy Duty Ronfords legs are rated at approx 200lbs, Mediums are approx 150lbs. Baby Heavy Duty and baby Medium will be the same - it's the gauge of the leg tubes that determines max load capacity.

Thanks all (minus the sales troll for Kesslercrane).
I'm dropping a red one on a O'connor 50 or 120ex head, but want the flexibility to go to a 3d rig( epic or scarlet ) or a 35mm with a geared head. I think I'll go with the medium gauge size legs as I don't think anything but a 65mm camera would push me over the 150 pound weight limit and if thats the case then I'll have ample budget to rent whatever I want. Thanks for all the feed back and support, love the Red User community.

You will want a spreader too.
