  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Playing around with the r3d makes me see some strange things. Pushing the luma curve up and down changes the tonal response and go from magenta to yello/grenn. I presume it was lit with poor CRI like some Led or fluo... Any comments on how it was lit?

Thanks

Patrick

This one was completely natural light in the room where she was doing her makeup. Florescent banks in the ceiling.

Thought I would have a quick go (I only did the three 4K images):
P.S. Still trying to get my head around uploading better and bigger images onto Reduser. Any tips?

Sign up for a free flikr account, then when you click into any image on your photostream, you have a share option above the photo. Choose "Grab the HTML/BB Code" and make sure that BBCode is selected. Then, just paste the code directly into your Reply and you'll have a nice image.

I have found that the medium size is just right for REDuser.

Hey Doug,

Thanks for the tip, that is really useful.

hmmm, interesting. Have you tried downloading one of the R3D's and playing around with the image?
My PM G5 (OS 10.4) cannot install Redcine-X. And loading up the PDF in Preview hangs the system. I'll put the PDF on the iPhone via Dropbox and read it there. I hope it doesn't hang the iPhone as well.

Better yet, you may want to evaluate the 5k stills which no one uploaded yet.
Alas. Well I'm due for a new computer next year.

But even in 2k and 3k, i didn't see noise in the properly shot stuff like in this thread. So what are you really asking?
I'm asking exactly what I'm asking. :-) But you need to know some background information. RED owner Christopher Barrett has on at least two occasions posted some downsamled output from his EPIC. Both times the RED images looked woeful: video-like, noisy, harsh and the images - even at downsampled dimensions - made the EPIC look like its sensor fill-area was as bad as a 5DII in video mode. Here's the recent example, compared to a Phase One digital back:

See his post #30.

Having said all that, I can see from Doug's samples (even though they aren't full size) that the Scarlet is indeed very nice even at 2,000 ISO. So what was Christopher doing to make his output look that bad? He took part in the 10/Dec lens test so I think he has a lot on his plate ATM.

As if she'd look bad with ANY camera!? I could shoot her on VHS and it would look good! LOL!
Can't wait for mine to get here...staged to ship!
