  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RCX PRO Build 11 Beta and Epic/ Scarlet Camera build 3.0 (release)

Wanted to confirm I get the same result on a second Apple Mac Pro tower also running 10.7.3 (most up-to-date).

Thanks Rob,

We'll take a look.

Cheers,
David

Rob: "...looks like a repeatable crash bug when trying to export resolution based on "Clip". Specifying clears up the problem. Hopefully fixed soon! Thank you."

Thanks David!

Anyone not able to 'open folder' ?
I can open individual clips one by one and they appear in the project fine but select a folder / magazine and nothing happens?

Have deleted and reinstalled RCXP but no dice btw
Hmm

Have the sam problem with the the early version firmwire... Can't test audio at the moment with firmwire 3. More people have this problem? I did put audio on ballanced!!

Hello!

...everything looking great - but:

Audiorecording has permanent klicks and constant hicks - not useable!

...was working with the last version.

Any ideas?

Thank you....

Has anyone else noticed more noise since using the firmware upgrade? All of my footage has way more noise in lowlight situations.

I've noticed shots that had just the slightest clipping in the darks are clipping way more now with RG3/RC3. Not sure why that would be.

Another REDUSER I shot with tonight at a concert noticed this too. Any input from RED on this? I'm considering going back. It looks great for daylight stuff. But its killing my lowlight stuff.

once again, this is gotta be the best update ever from RED, and it just came in the right time (after three days of shoot on EPIC's and R1's), skin tones, color, DR..etc. one more reason to love red!

Hi Jeffrey, did you guys check false colour and histogram in the R2's vs the R'3s? Just what your seeing off footage? Or all of the above?

Best

My Zeiss ZE 25mm 1.4 worked on previous factory firmware version and 3.0.0
Same goes for Zeiss ZE 100mm 2.0 macro

Same here, got my camera with previous version of firmware installed and my Zeiss Planar ZE 50 is working great. Right now i am debating wether to upragde to 3.0 or not after all the conflicting responses. I know there are a few advantages to uprading like small bugfixes and ofcourse Regamma3/Redcolor3. What is the difference of shooting with Redgamma3/Redcolor3 and applying it in post in REDCINE-X anyways? Should only affect monitoring when applying in camera right?

Are you talking about the same shot in RCX? Or monitoring path in the camera?

RC3/RG3 should induce you to expose the same in camera. RC3/RG3 can force a bit quicker clipping (if the shot was clipped) in RCX. As I stated a few times, critical DI will probably be done with RC3/REDlogFilm. That combo gives you the most amount of info.

RC3is intended to be your primary color option in all cases. RG3 is intended to be a monitoring path option and good/fast grading option.

Remember that you are shooting RAW (REDCODE RAW) and your monitor path choice has no bearing on anything in post.

Mine personally has been in RCX that i've noticed tons of noise. My in camera setting appears fine, but does show more clipping than normal. I've never noticed my meter as high in the past in lowlight situations, and it's always something that I pay attention too. My footage has come out noisier than usual since the update, some to the point of not being usable, where they would've been fine before.

RG3 appears to create more noise in my .r3d's then using RG2 did in the past. I've shot 2 concerts in the past month and a half and during the first one even if there was some black the meter was low for most of the time, at the concert I shot yesterday it was clipping 1/4-3/4 of the way the entire show even when there was more light and the venue was smaller. I did a Calibration and everything too. Looking at it in RCX shows the image being much noisier than in the past with similar and better lighting situations for the most part.

I know I can regrade Red One footage with the new RCX but is there a RC3/RG3 build in the works for Red One MX?
