  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED SCARLET-X on Steadicam Zephyr BTS

I use the Zephyr with my Epic and you can make the rig much lighter. First and foremost, have a cable made to power the Scarlet from the sled and get rid of that V-lock battery. Then try without the mattebox. If you aren't using filters then it probably isn't doing much indoors, assuming you aren't getting weird reflections.

My Epic rig is more like 13 pounds and is very easy to move around.

Hi, thinking of buying Zephyr too. Can you share experience on this things:
What is better for use with Epic/Scarlet - compact or standard vest?
Did you get better picture/power ratio with Marshall monitor then Steadicam monitor?
Thank you

Jim, where did you get your power cable for the zephyr stage and epic?

+1

I'm wondering how to power an Epic-M directly from the sled of a Zephyr? I've seen some cables on Tiffen's website that turn Lemo 3 Pin to Lemo 6 Pin for the Red-One, but that would requiere another cable like the one RED has on their store to adapt it for the Epic (http://www.red.com/store/power/product/2b-to-1b-lemo-power-adaptor-cable)

I'm sure their is some better configuration around, but I just don't find them... if anyone has any idea :)

can any one help me in calculating weight for scarlet x
1) scarlet brain al canon mount
2) ssd recording module with 64 gb card
3) 5" touch screen monitor with cable
4) ssd side handle with red volt battries
i am planning to buy glidecam 4000 pro model which supports 10 lbs

I'm also looking for a single stage solution to power my Epic off the Zephyr sled. Called Abel Cine, and don't seem to have any ideas beyond use two cables, or look around. Doesn't seem to be a lot of info around. Called Tiffen, left a message... Hope they get back tomorrow, but anybody got some ideas?
