  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

5" Touch Screen LCD Flicker

I am having the same problem, but i thought it was only with 2.205 firmware.

Anyone have any idea?
 
Same flicker visible on the 5" Touch Screen, looks similar to fluro flicker.

Image is fine through the HD/SDI output.

2.0.2 firmware, time base 25.00
 
Is this consistent regardless of the light source and frame rate, or only in certain situations?
 
For me it is flickering all the time regardless of situation and light.
 
I've noticed this happening as well, but it tends to disappear when you turn the brightness down. I've used that as a check to see if it's the monitor flickering or if it's something to do with the lights.
 
I also noticed this the past days shooting with the alpha build (is it 2.02?)
In my case it moves vertically across the screen, so it is not constant all over the screen at once, but in a band 1/3 across and moving vertically, it doesn´t distract me much apart from the first thought "is this flicker beeing recorded?" and the answer is no.

I just upgraded to the release version today, but didn´t have time to look for it after I did.
 
Upon powering up my Scarlet with the 5" LCD for the first time yesterday in tungsten lighting, I too noticed flicker. Haven't yet been able to test it under different conditions.

We also have this on our RED Epic-X, firmware 2.0.8 beta (had also it on 2.0.5 release version). It is quite trouble some when you have to shoot high speed material and tried to determine the flicker from light vs shutter angle.

Has anyone figure it out yet? Meaning what could be the solution?
 
Touchscreen monitor does not work. Has anyone had problems with the RED EPIC touchscreen monitors? A couple of days I received two one does not work the touchscreen. We have also seen the fliker. How you can correct these errors?
 
I have it too. Didnt notice it until upgrade to v2.0.5. Seems to diminish when I turn monitor brightness down.
 
I'm having the flicker issue too. I just got my Epic and was initially playing around with 2K at 300fps - so at first I just assumed it was an issue with my tungsten lighting. However, I was running the camera at 5K - 60fps today under ambient daylight and still saw the flicker... So it's definitely something camera related unless the sun was flickering too. Haha.

I was working in RedCine-X later today and didn't see that flicker so I guess I'll submit a support ticket with RED Support tomorrow and see what they say or suggest... My guess is that it probably just a firmware issue in how the video signal translates over to the LCD.
