I am so excited to test out HDRx. I hope that Red Pro Prime or our Ti Canon mount get here soon!

Sorry, but I think that I can grade same result form X channel only.

Maybe not with the same noise implications?

Gaston, thank you for posting - I'm very interested in the HDRx feature!

What I would like to see is a test where the A channel has a "normal" exposure and the X track is underexposed to capture a few blown out highlights, such as the sky.

In your example, the A track is severely overexposed and the X is slightly under. I don't think that's the best way to use the feature from what I've read... I imagine it will create a more difficult blend for magic motion and will cause problems when there is movement.

Help please...

What is the best way to share, here in reduser, a 300mb R3D file??

Thanks in advance!!!

I have another downloadable HDR clip for you to test, shot on a Canon 85mm in direct 3 o'clock sunlight with a white BG. This was shot at 6+ stops, and 18:1 compression ratio. Probably the worst possible settings, but it was my first day testing. For the most part it holds it's own, but with some slight "tearing" issues with the downward motion. I'm sure a little motion blur or post work would fix it.

The highlights are hard clipped which makes recovering them impossible even with HDRx. Although without HDRx your image would be a lot worse.

Did you expose for the highlights or your talent?

Generally atm I'm using Wetransfer. You send to someone specific but in the email confirmation you get a url to the file you can post anywhere. Free. Up to 2GB.

2Gb!! that's awesome! Thanks for the info...

I was exposing for talent (probably could've brought it down a couple stops and kept the shirt and hair clean) in a test I would probably not attempt on a real project, but that's how you learn what your camera can and can't do. Also, like I said it was my first day with the camera. I think it's incredible it looks as good as it does for the clipped highlights.

Thanks for your thoughts.
