  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Music video for Irish musician 'Moths'

Very nice Piers! love the shots... could you tell us a little bit about the lighting used for the night shots? If any was used at all. Also what did you push the iso up to in post? was any denoising done in post? Thanks.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

The night shots as you've guessed were unlit [apart from what the fireworks and bonfire gave off]. However, we did have a flame bar to bring the fire effect up for closer shots. I also made sure we shot a lot at dusk, to make use of the last bit of light in the sky. There was no de-noising in post, we shot everything at 800 and finished at 800. Actually, I did push the final few shots in the field [end of the video], which I'm sure you'll notice. We shot that right before full darkness so even the MX couldn't compete there. I don't completely hate the noise at twilight, as it kind of makes sense that it feels pushed [as you'd see with film], but yeh, it's definitely noisey there. If I could have avoided the noise I would have :)

No man I thought the shots looked great..Reason I asked is I barely saw any noise, thats why I thought denoising was done lol.. Very cool cool shots though. It's nice to see how much you can push the RED image before it looks like crap. Great job Piers!

This was so refreshing to see. So well shot, so effortless. There's a huge flood of footage being uploaded (now that Scarlets are shipping) that just feels so careless. It's obvious that you are really close to your camera, that you know how it behaves and reacts. Unfortunately I'm afraid too many people won't be able to discern between this quality and the technical buzz or specs of a project shot with the Latest DSMC Red module. I just received my Scarlet and I'll be waiting until I get to know it before I upload anything. Thanks for this!
