hi all
scary subject, no? a new user to redcine-x (and fairly new to working with red files in post - i'm a commercial avid editor) i recently got a pile of epic files and found that my avid (mc 5.5) doesn't like them, hence redcine, which i am beginning to like. possibly. here's what seems to have happened: working to transcode these epic files to DNxHD175x (i'm in a 1080p/23.98 seq) my first pass was painless, though i missed the "restrict smpte levels" switch and had to redo because of the old low blacks/high whites issue. retranscoding the final cut to do a color pass i found that one card was not populating the bin, so i checked the folder. folder seemed fine, subfolders all there, but when i checked within the subfolders there were no r3d files! every file from every subfolder was missing, nor were they to be found elsewhere. all other cards/folders were untouched. all of the missing file folders had a "date modified" timestamp of approximately when i started my redcine session that morning. my guess is that somehow the files got into the trash, and i do remember cleaning up some old mxf files and emptying the trash so they likely got trashed then. luckily i can easily get the data from that card overnighted, i'm working from a cloned drive, and i also have my previous transcodes, so it wasn't the horrible disaster that it could have been. but i'd sure like to know what dumb-ass thing i did for that to happen.
any ideas?
cheers
