For those of you, like myself, who thought Edelkrone offered interesting support rigs, you may want to take another look. They have drastically lowered their prices. The products seem well designed, well engineered and well built, even for the old prices. Now they have cut them by more than 50%! IMO - worth a look.

Not sure what's going on with SmallHD, their recently announced U.S. distributor, but the new prices are not showing up on their site.

Just to be clear, I have no affiliation with these guys; just like the looks of the product (from their catalog - no personal experience yet).

Yeah, I've been waiting to see what the "amazing" was since yesterday. I love the new prices too. I wonder why SmallHD still has the old prices, which are over 1k more expensive for some of the modulas.
If you read the "How we achieved this " you'll see they now sell direct without distributors. So maybe SmallHd is no longer gonna be working with them, hence the lower prices

I got word from SmallHD that they are lowering their prices but can't match the Edekrone direct prices. Seems they got screwed a little but it's hard to argue with this as a consumer.

Kamaletin are you afilliated with edelkrone? I was wondering about the Follow Focus unit, whether it's actually available or still being redesigned or something..

SmallHD's prices are actually only around a $100 more, but they're offering free shipping. Limited supply, btw. I'm ordering from them; it's worth an extra few bucks.

I assume you are looking at the new price list? And, I suppose it depends on the model you order but the new prices that SmallHD quoted me (not on the their site yet) were much more than that. Don't get me wrong, I love the guys at SmallHD but the difference in pricing for the Mod 7 was significant.

Oh, I just checked and you're right, there's a significant price difference for the Modula 7. The one I'm interested in, the Modula 9, is only $100 more expensive.

And the new direct prices are less than half of what they used to be!

I just tried to order the Pocket Rig on the site and it wouldn't let me. It forced me to look up the US distributor. I guess I'll be calling Small HD in the morning to see what they'll do the Pocket Rig for now.

Quick question:

How can you put the RED 5" LCD touchscreen on an Edelkrone Modula 7 Rig, specifically with their monitor holder (http://www.edelkrone.com/monitor-holder/). Can it be mounted with a hot-shoe mount? Screw in? I haven't messed with mine but I'm wondering if you can remove the swivel or not?

Anyone?

Just talked to Small hd they wont be selling these rigs anymore..

Sean:

What?? This is very surprising since they just announced the deal...strange!

I haven't tried either one, but do also have a look at the Master Cinema Series, their shoulder rig costs a good deal more, but seems like a better long-term investment, with much better balance, and better ergonomics. Love the fact that the sensor sits on the shoulder, thus minimizing strobing, can be used for different camera types, including the Scarlet and yet-unknown cameras. http://www.letusdirect.com/cart/master-cinema-series/

Here's a nice comparison video:
