Faster Way to change resolutions/framerates?

Hi guys,

I shoot mountain biking with my Red One that I recently bought second hand. When shooting on the trail, I'm constantly changing framerates to achieve an even mix of fast/slow motion as we go down the trail. This could be my lack of experience with the camera showing, but it seems the process for changing resolutions/framerates on the fly is pretty time consuming. I change the resolution in the project settings, then exit and go into the sensor settings, enable varispeed and rotate the knob (for what seems like an eternity) until it hits 120fps (or just 60, 96, etc).

Is there a faster way to change fps/resolutions? Hotkeys? Anything?

Thanks,

Steve

You could program the menu keys to bring you to the menus faster. Here's instructions.

To the left of the status display are three (3) User Menu buttons (A), which by default provide direct access to the following menus:
• A: SENSITIVITY menu
• B: SHUTTER menu
• C: COLOR TEMPERATURE menu.
The specific function of these buttons may be re-programmed by the user, to provide quick access to
other functions. To program of the User Menu Buttons, perform the following:
1. Navigate to the desired menu you wish to program the A, B or C key to.
2. Press and hold the desired key until external monitors display “User button A/B/C has been assigned to this menu.
The selected key will now be programmed to the new menu destination. To reset keys to default settings, go to RESTORE. A reboot of the camera may be necessary to restore defaults.

Great, thanks Steve! I didn't know the Press and Hold trick. It'd be really nice if the different resolutions "remembered" the last used fps setting... At least for my application.

I'd like to know if there is a button that can be pushed that turns the two different zebras on and off with a single push of a button. I can find a way to get to the menu, but not just to turn the zebras on and off without going to that menu.

Or shoot all in the same speed, over cranked. and then in post deal away to get down to realtime.

Hello Stephen!

Go into the user key menus and that is one of the functions that you can assign to a user key. For instance, I've always had the user key on the RED LCD turn zebras off and on.
