  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dc-camera has its first scarlet in house now.

Two more on order which shouldn't be too far behind this one.

This one came with PL, and we have a canon TI mount now as also.

Do you meant that you can place an order for a Al Canon Mount Scarlet and then later pay the difference to upgrade to a Ti Canon Mount Scarlet?

Because RED's told me that that cannot be done. It would alter the entire order and place a new timestamp on the Scarlet.

You know what's odd? I thought I saw that same exact post you're referring to. It must be here somewhere.

I contacted RED to modify the lens mount on my Scarlet order, but they said that doing so would change the item number for that Scarlet and place a new timestamp on the order. But, I really wish they would allow upgrading or switching of lens mounts. :-)


Just as a side-note FYI type-thing to everyone here: Unfortunately, RED does not sell Scarlet-X brains by itself. You must purchase a lens mount along with your brain.

Yes. You just pay the difference in price. And it will not hold up your order. Actually, it will ship 1st because we have a supply of Ti PL mounts

That's the post I was thinking of. However, I was remembering it from memory, but misunderstood what it meant. Initially purchasing a Scarlet-X brain with a Ti PL or Ti Canon mount is RED's interpretation of "upgrading" from an Al Canon mount. Which is why placing an order for a Scarlet with an Al Canon Mount and then later wanting to switch the lens mount to a Ti PL/Canon won't work.

It looks like whoever you talked to at Red didn't know what they were talking about and you should be able to upgrade to the Ti Canon mount. Maybe contact them again and tell them about Jannard's post saying you are allowed to upgrade. It shouldn't change your order number either because there's no option to purchase the Scarlet-X with Ti Canon mount on the Red Store site. Needs to be done by your BS rep.

Actually, I have an order for a Ti Canon Mount and I tried replacing it with a Ti PL Mount. But, they said they can't do that.

Okay, that's different. My understanding is that does change your order number. I thought you were talking about substituting the Al Canon mount for the Ti Canon mount. For that you'd just pay the difference, according to what Jannard said in his FAQ post.

Yes. Is that new? I don't remember seeing that before. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.
 
I ordered an Al mount, I also asked my BS rep if I could pay the difference and upgrade to the Ti mount... if it would speed up delivery.

My BS rep told me that it would be a whole new order and that I would be placed at the back of the line.

Can we please get some clarification from someone who works at Red?

LOL. I do believe that's been there for a while, but RED changes things so regularly, it's sometimes difficult to keep track. =D

From what I've heard from RED, that is correct. Once an order has been made, the lens mount cannot be modified.
 
Ha, then I guess I don't know what I'm talking about. :D

Anyway, based on what it seems it says in the FAQ that was posted is that you should be able to pay the difference and upgrade the mount, but then I guess since they have all the options in the store website there would be no reason to do that. Looks like they want buyers to get it right the first time. Maybe the FAQ was written prior to the decision to put a Ti Canon mount Scarlet in the store.

no, this camera was ordered with a PL mount, and that how it came.

I also have a canon TI mount.
